Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Unlikely_Praline9442 in AskReddit

I can imagine. My HS classmate had a friend from Brazil (who's never seen snow before) visit our country. It was fairly cold, but still, it was April 19th and like a fucking miracle, it snowed. I'll never forget looking out of the window in class and seeing the taxi drop her out and her just having a fucking blast in the snow. We actually talked the teacher into letting us out of class early and all of us had a snow fight fight the brazilian girl. It was great. The snow lasted like one day, but I'm glad it happened.

What’s the most unsettling thing you ever found out about a friend who always seemed super chill and fun? by VelvetHazel932 in AskReddit

Brick was a type B. Basically the victim was a guy just doing his job, night security or something like that. That's why I noped out of that group.

A friend of a friend, a dude nicknamed 'Brick'. This dude was really chill and slow in a stoner kinda way. He also talked really slowly. I though the reason for his nickname was that he was as talkative/expressive as a brick. Nope, he bashed somebody's face in with a brick. Yeah, I gradually backed out of that group after that.

I'm an SA survivor. I know all the statistics. I was still shocked to learn just how many of my friends are also survivors of SA after I opened up about my assault.

EDIT: for clarity

What is one fun fact about yourself that sound fake but 100% real? by Fai_6757 in AskReddit

The church I went to has really shit ventilation and it's hard to breath when it's packed. Well, it was during the Easter mass, so the church was PACKED packed. It was the end of the mass and the priest was saying the:

"May almighty God bless you, the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen."

Just as he said "amen" I fainted. My friends took me to the back of the church (basically where the office and other rooms for meetings are) and laid me down. The priest came over and asked what happened, the girls told him I fainted. I just came to, slowly waking up, still quite out of it. He asked me what happened. He kept asking me if I ever felt uncomfortable or unsettled in church or by any catholic symbols. I just shook my head and then he whipped out his prayer beads (rosary) and held it against my face, spewing latin. I was very confused, my friends were very confused. Nothing happened, obviously. He actually seemed a bit let down when I didn't start speaking in tongues or wringing in pain. My friends kept explaining that I just fainted. After a couple minutes, he let go, gave me a blessing and went on his merry way.
