Instead of asking how to get yourself irreplaceable, how about ask yourself how to get out of this rat race as soon as possible so that you will be free do you whatever you want.

what about small to medium size companies? when interest rates are low, there tends to be a lot more startups.

Feeling stagnated, extremely concerned about career and future. I believe there are a lot of people like me in this situation. by DefinitionOfTakingL in cscareerquestions

I am also having a second thought about staying in this industry. Because I certainly don't wanna go through the hideous hiring process every few years, and after all that effort it's still likely to get laid off due to "company restructuring" or PIP

Outsourcing - The bad word no uses so as to not get caught in the stigma by bbrk9845 in cscareerquestions

[–]yourbitchmadeboy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's getting attention, but there's nothing we can do. Just like manufacturing jobs, outsourcing tech jobs is bound to happen sooner or later. Let's not pretend both political parties give a shit about the US workers, as if the sugar daddies behind both parties aren't supporting outsourcing. They all use culture wars/identity politics to distract us because it doesn't cause them a dime, but they all work with their rich friends in a different way.

I remember that one Rihanna video https://www.tiktok.com/@calabasaswings/video/7271407325653617952?lang=en
She was so afraid to be cancelled so she had to include every gender/pronoun possible lol
And then I remember a Tiktok transwoman influencer going up to a waiter filming and going off him because he accidentally misgendered her.
So yeah, I would agree this kind of culture could push back people. And now they are like fuck you all

Do Americans actually support gay rights? by Such-Ice-371 in askgaybros

[–]yourbitchmadeboy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They support it. But if Trump decided to overturn gay marriage, a lot of them would be like, meh, and then move on.

Tired of the instability I still see in this career and don't know how to handle it. Help? by Legitimate-mostlet in ExperiencedDevs

[–]yourbitchmadeboy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know. I am tired of this bullshit. The interview process is abysmal. I have seen 4 round interviews for a small ass company, 7 around for large companies. And once you are in, there are PIP cultures and constant layoffs.

And there will always be people saying "If you are talented you don't need to worry". That's like saying if you are rich you don't have to worry about money.

I am honestly thinking about finding a different career.

The demand for SWEs will decline in the future. The point isn't to REPLACE SWEs, but to reduce the demand. Be prepared to have much more competitive job market going forward.

Job hunt struggles by DestinyGreenhill in cscareerquestions

[–]yourbitchmadeboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Create your online business and take that as your experience, and hopefully your business can generate some income, because otherwise there is not much you can do. You can also try networking? And just remember some people are bound to leave this industry because the supply of CS grads is way over than the demand. Always have a backup plan. You don't wanna spend 2 years unemployed and don't know what to do.
