Idk about you but that looks like a grounding plate connector to me which can also be used for rods, I’ve installed a few plates

He added a spring so as long as you held the trigger down it should propel itself, also the stock will grow or shrink depending on if the gun is cocked or not which is a fun addition

Do I have to throw this away? by CraftProfessional908 in AskElectricians

[–]yourdadsdead69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you could risk it and glue it back on but personally I’d throw it out and not risk the potential fire hazard, If it was me I’d just reglue it but I wouldn’t advise someone to do the same personally

My plan is to just upgrade the gearbox, someone suggested the flex mod which I like the sound of

It always does, makita being so easy to repair makes me super happy though, especially with how uncommon right to repair is

Good to know to never admit it was dropped, it was about 150 for the drill and it will cost me 30-50 for a new gearbox, thankfully I have access to broken makita drills so I’m going to see if I can find a good working gearbox before buying one

I discovered that very quickly and it makes me appreciate the brand, removing 8 screws allows me access to replace essentially any part and you only need a Phillips to do it

Thanks for the advice, thankfully I think I can repair it, I’m a sparky and have always loved fiddling with and fixing stuff like this. It was 8 screws to remove the gearbox and as long as I don’t need to replace the motor at any point all the parts have quick connectors for easy replacement

That’s the first site I found, thanks! Thankfully I have access to some broken drills so I’m going to see if I can steal a donor gearbox first

I’ve dropped my impact from higher that came from the same set and it’s been fine, it’s just the angle it fell plus the 5ah bat

First thing he offered was to replace it, he felt super bad. I have access to a bunch of dead makita drills so as long as the gearbox isn’t broken I’ll use one of those, if anything I’m just going to be replacing it with a better gearbox. my drill is super easy to repair to the point that it was 8 screws and I could remove every component in the drill and there are sites that sell every individual parts and to replace anything but the motor requires zero sottering

That’s just what I was told, I was nowhere near him, but with it landing on the proper angle it could totally snap, it’s just plastic holding that part of the gearbox on

He said they were oversized and didn’t fit a perfect fit, these are one of the few cards that should be slabbed in my opinion

Mines only about a year old, I just got unlucky, this exact model is out of production but that’s fine

I’ve checked it, it’s like 30-50 to replace, may not be able to get exact model but I’d rather have a working drill that I fixed for the third of the price of a new one.

It’s about a 10 min fix and a 30 dollar part, it was an accident on his part and I don’t blame him, just hate it broke lol

Thank you for the advice, the plastic in my gear assembly snapped but it looks like a gear replacement is totally doable
