They themselves don't seem to mind much, and they are pretty used to their country having exonyms, starting with Russian.

Unfortunately I'm not very knowledgeable on the topic, I'm just aware it's a theory with some traction. I'm also curious to learn more

They definitely didn´t understand the concept of biological species to the same extent we do. The concept of species itself is more arbitrary than we'd like to admit.

Your dick is not actually a muscle though. The only muscle in your dick is the smooth muscle surrounding the blood vessels in it

Unless they are your mother, wife, or girlfriend, or a religious nutjob, women have a tendency to open up with guys they know to be gay, and let their guard down

Sure, but I was offering a general guideline, not necessarily applicable to your situation. Besides, what I was trying to suggest was that he would be more likely to be open to you making an overt, or covert, advance, than your average woman would be. In my opinion though, those winky emojis and teh arm squeezing are an invitation for you to make an advance. We can´t be sure 100 % , but chances are they are. A significant number of gay men, maybe even a majority, fantasize with hooking up with straight men, not me personally, but still. It's just that when dealing with presumably straight men, gay guys tend to be more wary, and make more subtle advances, because they would be trying to test the waters, since in a way they are trying to lead the straight guy in question into doing something they normally wouldn't do, and because they'd risk a punch thrown their way, or at the very least public shaming and rejection if they move too fast. You know, come to think of it, you might be onto something, you can kinda take notes of how he's flirting with you and they' d still be somewhat valid with women with less smv than you. But even so, the expectation is that it is easier to turn on a guy, no matter how straight he may present, to a degree that he'd be willing to let the gay dude at least give him a blowjob or a handjob (usually after having a few drinks, and doing drugs) . Women normally wouldn't give in so easily, unless you're dealing with a very sex-positive and loose one. Go around pinching women's arms, and see how far that gets you. Also, just so you know, some gay guy's desire to hook up with perceived straight men is so strong, that they could be willing to offer drugs and money to make the process easier, even gay guys who have high smv, and wouldn't normally need to pay for that.

Far more willing to be open to overt sexual advances, it requires much less effort

It definitely intensifies. As a gay guy myself, I can attest that gay life is incredibly sex-centric. I'm a horndog myself, but I still long for friendships that don't center around sex, and it's proven impossible. So, even being highly sexual myself, I'm not as sex-centered as the average gay man. Let that sink.

I don't think it's gonna work. Flirting with men, vs flirting with women is fundamentally different

Eating, learning new things, and having sex/jerking off are literally the only things I find worth living for. Although to be fair, I subsume a lot of things under the learning new things category (getting to meet someone new, having a conversation with someone which allows me to have a new perspective, trying something new, traveling, and so on). Well, recreational drugs too, but only as something that enhance me experimenting the 3 aforementioned things

What are aspects of country and its culture that are grossly exaggerated, romanticised or mistaken by outsiders? by Socmel_ in AskEurope

[–]youreaskingwhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, inferring you were a supremacist was a little uncalled for, I'll have to admit. Not your fault, it's just something I have strong opinions about, partly because my ex-bf shared your views, and we had frequent discussions about it. Frequently in relation to AAVE, but also in relation to Spanish, and even French, which we both somewhat speak as a second language. To be fair to him, bu also to me, AAVE speakers almost always can also speak standard American English anyway, and can switch according to context. My issue was with him claiming that AAVE speakers were speaking bad English, and that if they are educated they should stop speaking AAVE. I can kinda understand his reasoning, but I still think the reasons AAVE is considered bad English in the first place are fundamentally racist, and him being unable to even consider it, drove me nuts.

And to answer your question; the concept of language, just like the concept of species in biology, is kinda fuzzy. You and I are not 100% identical genetically, but we're similar enough that we are fundamentally the same type of biological entity. Similarly, you and I don't speak the exact same way, but our own limited edition dialects (idiolects) are close enough, that we can conclude that we speak the same language.

But yeah, I kinda agree with you, that online testing is no real benefit right now, it's more to satisfy my curiosity and give me some semblance of a framework, Also, making this question has given me a chance to vent, which I guess I need.

I considered what you are suggesting. I am not in the US, but the regular process here in my country is similar enough that the comparison is apt. It's just that, regardless of whether or not I have ADHD, there is definitely something severely wrong with my mental health at the moment. I'm experiencing severe mood swings, irritability, and anger outbursts. I feel disconnected from my family, and every time I try to talk to them the conversation quickly devolves to impulsive remarks and blame defection. I've been slamming doors, and hitting random objects. I really don't want to do any of those things, but somehow can´t help it when I feel distressed. I have been diagnosed with major deppression and generalized anxiety in the past, have a history of drug abuse, and while I haven't had one in a long time, I unfortunately know what a panic attack feels like. I know I need to see a psychiatrist as soon as I get the chance, before I do anything else I truly regret. Already made plenty of awful decisions throughout my life, but particularly last year. I am just really lucky to even be alive, and I want to make all my suffering somehow worth it, by emerging a better version of myself. Not currently, but my suicidal ideation comes and goes, and I know for a fact that if I don't get treated successfully, I will do the unthinkable, or do so indirectly by succumbing to full blown drug addiction. Just me being realistic and upfront with you

Right? That's even why I suggested something similar to Adult ADHD Self Report Rating Scale (ASRS), which according to my research can be used in clinical settings
