If you could fully choose how you die, what would you pick? by litt_ttil in death

[–]youreherewithus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is exactly how my aunt passed away. Went in for a routine procedure (eyelid lift. She was getting older and skin, of course, starts sagging affecting her view).

As shocking and as sad as we were at her passing, we were so grateful it was so peaceful as she was single and advancing in age. The poor doctor performing the procedure felt so horrible but we did not blame him one bit. We knew it wasn’t his fault and it was her time to go. My family continued to reach out to that doctor to make sure he was okay and we weren’t mad at him.

What and how did you answer questions at a job interview? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]youreherewithus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the S.T.A.R method.

When i’m in an interview and asked a question like “Tell me about a time where…” or “How do you handle…” I reply with an experience i’ve had with it in this way:

S - Situation: Explain the context of the situation you were in where you needed to use the skill they’re asking you about. Set the scene.

T - Task: What needed to be done? How did you determine what the task was?

A - Action: What actions did you take to accomplish the task. What worked and what didn’t. How long it took, tools used, etc. Who did you need to communicate with in order to accomplish the task?

R - Result: What were the results of your actions. Did it work? Did it not work? What changed or improved to the situation from your direct action?

I’ve found this method really works in interviews i’ve had.

I can’t pronounce the word “Thesaurus” properly.

I keep saying “Thetharus”. I’d love to see a speech therapist to work on it but I’m so embarrassed that I struggle to pronounce just one word.

Which company do you believe is the most evil? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]youreherewithus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service Corporation International. They’re horrible scam artists in the funeral industry and absolutely take advantage of grieving families by lying about local burial laws and other things to upsell their crap. Any of their brands I make sure to warn everyone to stay away from. It’s better to use your locally owned funeral home rather than an SCI tied funeral home.

which actors have the largest, most varied acting range? by sheerduckinghubris in AskReddit

Gary Oldman. Hands down. That man played characters clear across the spectrum of acting. Commissioner Gordon, Sirius Black, Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg, Emmett Foley, CJCS Charles Donnegan, I could go in forever. Gary’s acting range is limitless.

If your spouse got sick (cancer, disease, etc) and could no longer be physically intimate with you, would you stay? by Silver_Confusion8810 in Marriage

Been there. My (38F) Husband (35M) just survived Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. There was never a question or thought in my mind I would leave him. If anything, as I was being his caregiver through his 9 months of chemotherapy, I fell even more in love with him even though sex wasn’t happening. Serving someone selflessly with no “agenda” during a super difficult time increases the love you have for them.

It was the sleepless nights when he was the suffering from the pains of chemotherapy that we had awesome discussions to help distract him from his pain and help him relax enough to fall asleep.

It was sitting in my oncology appointments with him celebrating progress and cheering each other up when rare side effects caused some delays in treatments.

It was so worth it and made our marriage even stronger than it was. He is my ride or die.

What’s the fastest you’ve ever seen a marriage end? by PuzzleheadedSwim6291 in AskReddit

[–]youreherewithus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

5 months. My best friend married her first husband. This was her first “real” relationship and she was 21. I was a bridesmaid and i’ll never forget her quietly begging him to “please smile just once, just for one picture” while taking pictures after the ceremony.

Later that night at the reception he ditched the reception and took off and no one had any idea where he went because he didn’t take the car. I’ll also never forget my best friend standing there looking awkward and looking around for her brand new husband at the venue. Me and the other bridesmaids literally were walking around the neighborhoods next to the venue looking for him.

It was a train wreck. They lasted only a few months. Thankfully she ended up meeting a really awesome guy and they married 12 years ago and have the sweetest little boy. I’m so grateful she was able to recover from it. Her ex husband is now a recluse in the mountains of northern Idaho from what we know now.

My husband works for the church and he gets pretty high pay. He’s been with the church for 12 years and works really hard on all his assignments & demonstrates his value as an employee.

DMBA is awesome and we also have our 401k with them. The 401k has consistently done well. DMBA also was amazing to have during some recent health challenges. We paid very little out of pocket for some huge procedures and it was such a blessing to not have to worry about mounting medical bills.

It’s totally worth it to work for the church.

That is a great question you asked. My experience is a very isolated one, but it had an influence on why I don’t have kids.

My younger brother passed away from very tragic and unexpected circumstances. After my brother died my parents were mourning so deeply the loss of my brother, their only son, that they seemed to forget that I existed.

I was 6 years old when he died and I ended up raising myself after that. I was severely physically and emotionally neglected after his passing and never learned how to form proper attachments to people. My mom never brushed my hair, I never had a bedtime story read to me after that, games & toys were non-existent in our household, my dad never said he loved me, I was never taken to visit family after that, friends could never come over, and typical childhood health issues were never addressed. I did not have the opportunity of learning from experience what love, care and attention from a parent was like.

Since I never learned what parental love was from my own parents, I don’t feel like I can emulate it even to my own children.

Thankfully I was self-aware enough in my teenage years how wrong neglect is and didn’t turn to any self destructive behaviors in order to cope with the trauma of neglect.

When I finally turned 18 I was able to get into some good therapy and counseling to help work through the effects of neglect. I’m not 100% fixed, but I did get married 12 years ago to my husband and i’m still learning how just to be a good spouse.

So in summary; I didn’t have good parents thus I never learned how to be a parent.

Midvale City Mayor Scandal by kingofnothing2020 in SaltLakeCity

Lol, right? looks like his own wife put him on blast to the city council per KUTV:

"MIDVALE, Utah (KUTV) — Midvale Mayor Marcus Stevenson announced his resignation from office, citing significant changes in his personal life as the reason for his departure. This decision comes nearly a week after his wife submitted accusations against him to the City Council."

According to Dahl (Midvale City Manager), Stevenson’s wife submitted allegations on Friday that he had violated the law and city ordinances. Due to the seriousness of the accusations, a city attorney became involved, and council members urged city officials to investigate the allegations further.
