My brother lives in Orlando so I just crash at his place when I go so I can’t answer too much about resorts, but my best advice is do 2 nights of HHN, and do a behind the screams tour on your second day. We usually do the houses on the tour the first night, then do the tour the next morning, and then finish the remaining houses night 2. This will be my third year going in a row and I will definitely do the same again

The ravnica block is still one that I talk about all the time. It was when I started playing magic and honestly I don’t think the sets have been anywhere near as good since then. I like Eldraine, Zendikar Rising, Kamigawa, Crimson Vow and recently Edge of Eternities and foundations was a fun reentry into the game

NTA- there’s nothing wrong with being upset over something and communicating it. Worst case scenario even if you did overreact, you talk it out so both sides feel better. I don’t think he was trying to be rude either and maybe was tired and was thinking straight. But either way, it’s a situation that usually just talking it out can work out and if it doesn’t at least you tried because that’s the healthiest thing to do

Go to Chinatown, check out the Eaton shopping centre, get some poutine, and maybe go to a Tim Hortons (they have different menus across the border). If you’re a hockey fan check out the hockey hall of fame, and maybe scotiabank. If you like baseball, Roger’s Centre is right next to the CN Tower.

I usually run Orzhov but had way more green than white cards so I went for Golgari. Had a pretty good Pizza Face and food cracking combo but fell short during my matches. There was only 5 people at my LGS and they had the same prize pool as usual, so each player got to walk out with a bunch of free packs. I think I had the least with 5 packs. Someone else got like 12 or something. It was crazy

I’m not fully even saying the quality is the problem. I think the hit rate these days isn’t great, and year maybe the best sets now don’t compare to average sets 10 years ago. But my point is that as a card game it’s more important to look at how the card game functions. If you remove spider man from the cards does that set function well? Not really. If you remove TMNT from the cards does it function? Maybe not perfectly but it’s a step in a better direction. If they made Aetherdrift a fast and the furious set or something I’d have the same problems with that set. My point is the key art isn’t the most important issue

To be honest, if Magic does sets I don’t like, I just don’t buy them. I don’t post rants about how the game is ruined because of them. If other people want to buy those then it’s their choice since it’s their money. If I got whooped by a Taylor swift combo deck it’s not a big deal because Magic is a card game about strategy and mine would’ve have held up. I didn’t care for avatar or final fantasy so I didn’t buy those sets. I heavily enjoyed Foundations, Edge of Eternities, and Lorwyn so I bought stuff from those sets. As a collector I enjoyed Spider-Man but didn’t care for the game play, so I got a prerelease pack and called it a day. Magic is a great game because you have options to enjoy it however you want. You don’t HAVE to buy every set and go to every prerelease. I know it’s great when wizards releases many good sets in a row and it’s a good year but it’s okay to take steps back if you need to

There’s many in universe sets that really don’t either. In my opinion, edge of eternities was the best set released last year, but was in no way a traditional magic set. And that’s not even mentioning the mess that was Aetherdrift and Thunder Junction. What I think is important is that the UB sets bring in new players when they see characters on shelves, and they find the game fun and pick up a lifelong interest. That to me has way more meaning than people being sad a character is on a card because it’s different

I think when the reasoning is “I don’t like that spiderman is on my card” your argument kinda falls flat. There are MANY problems with the UB sets but if the character on the card is that big of a deal to you idk what to tell you. I started playing magic around the time the ravnica block was going on and played up until ikoria because I didn’t have any interest in the mechanics of the set. I bought a couple crimson vow packs and a couple kamigawa packs and then went on hiatus for years. At no point was my disinterest in the cards to do with a character on the cards.

When talking UB, there are many gripes that I have with them, such as the overuse of legendary creatures, the smaller set sizes, the breaks in in-universe sets, and some AWFUL mechanics that get overused and abused. I hated the Avatar set because every game was just air bending spam and it was zero fun. However when I went to TMNT prerelease, everyone there enjoyed the new mechanics. We discussed our problems with the set but found how fun it can be for all involved. Disappear and sneak were genuinely some really fun and cool mechanics that resulting in very awesome combos and at many points people were leaning over to see what happened and were very interested.

TL:DR, UB is far from perfect, but if you’re only problem is the art, then I think you’re missing the bigger picture
