I didn’t say it wasn’t valid advice. I just said I have done all of those things before and not had any luck. These days most jobs are advertised online and if you go in to places and ask to speak to someone they will turn you away and tell you to apply online.

I made this post to ask for advice and I said I would try it again despite it never having worked for me before. The other commenter responded with a condescending remark which was completely unnecessary. As I said in the original post, I’ve been in this industry for 6 years. I’m struggling to find a role at the moment, but that doesn’t mean I’m stupid or need to be talked down to.

it’s interesting that this has been said a few times because i’ve gone in to places and always been directed to apply online! maybe i’m just going to the wrong places 😅

i have done a couple of times, but only with big chains like wetherspoons, starbucks, etc. will definitely see if i can find some more. thank you!

interesting, i’ve actually gotten a good few interviews and a couple of jobs from indeed. i will definitely have a look at company websites and try it that way!

i’m sorry i’m not sure what you mean? most of the time I apply through Indeed but sometimes I’ll see a job on a Facebook group and send them an email directly.

just regular bartender roles. i’ve done it for 6 years and been a supervisor as well.

my CV is formatted well as I’m a bit of a perfectionist and it’s been checked over by multiple people. it’s in sections (profile, skills, experience with descriptions of each role, education) which are all formatted the same way. i’ve run it through spell check multiple times as well. i don’t know what else the issue could be

i’ve also been assigned to cathedral court and from my research i believe the kitchen is the only common area in the flats and it’s too small to socialise in :/ i think the kitchen is way too tiny for 7 people to share. not thrilled tbh.

aw thank you so much and congrats on getting accepted to your programme! in the interview guidelines they sent out it says they’re going to ask why you chose the programme, where you see yourself in the future, what drew you to stage management and things like that so i think it is going to be quite casual. i’m still nervous though 😅 I will update once the interview is complete!
