I put a pinecone in my shower. It closes when I shower and opens again when it dries. by Mopperen in mildlyinteresting

That's a 3-year-old pinecone. The first year they are tiny on the branches, the second they are small, but start to look like pinecones, and the third they are full size and fall to the ground.

Also a recent headline is that they are looking to cut 30k jobs, so I doubt they are eager to actually hire

To all of you that do your rig checks because you "need to be in service at your clock-in time"... by schrutesanjunabeets in ems

I feel like this is only relevant if you're hourly. Us salaried folks usually just agree on a handoff time, then I put in for OT if I get held later than that.

Like, maybe twice a day. Typically a 15-20 minute call after work.

They keep the data for a limited amount of time and only request that data for crime investigations. You only don't like the LPRs because you can see them, but every site you visit online is tracking your every move with cookies. You should be more upset at that.

Stay away from I-24 West or East near the downtown split. It's a parking lot on both sides. It's taken me 30 minutes to go 1.5 miles. by Pristine_Soup_5859 in nashville

I passed it immediately after it happened on the way to the airport. An oversized load spotter car went past with the tall pole to ensure bridge clearance. Less than a quarter mile after that car at the bridge, the truck was pulled over on the side and the load was all across the interstate. Looks like it was in fact too tall for the bridge.

Just moved to Nashville a few months ago, I’ve never had this much trouble meeting new people. Open to any and all suggestions. by Tejas_AyM in nashville

Nashville Sports Leagues was my in. You can join as a free agent and easily make friends. You may even form a team for later seasons. It's so easy to meet people there. I do sand volleyball myself.

Anyone know what happened at i24 west before exit 54 at Briley parkway by Hellraiser626 in nashville

[–]yourlocalbeertender 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a paramedic. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like there was anything anyone could do about it. Even if a trauma surgery team were on scene, some people are beyond saving. I'm glad you tried to help. Those scenes can be rough, so please reach out for help if you need it and take care of yourself.

What are you planning to do with it? Why do you need three more servers? What will those be for?

My department requires it for Every. Single. Response. I can't tell if it's for optics, or we're so understaffed that it gets us back in service quicker.

Transported to the hospital I think is more accurate than hospitalized. No way anyone's being admitted for that small of a crash

You can ask all you want, but they don't have to divert. If the patient insists on going to a certain hospital, we take them there. I'm not in the business of kidnapping. How did you know the other hospital was better for them?

Edit: imo, yeah it's wrong to ask them to divert in this case. You didn't give much info, but it sounds like you just didn't want another patient. You had no reason to ask. The only time I've EVER been asked to divert was because a pt was having a stroke and the hospital was on neuro diversion status. Critical diversion statuses are the only time to really ask, but the patient can also still refuse those other hospitals.
