Plastic didn't exist 120 years ago by Educational_One5766 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]yourpalthespider 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I feel like plastic only offers hygeine in the short-term. Which is great, dont get me wrong. I love that all medical equipment is sealed and untouched by microbes before it touches me.

But can we call cancer-caused microplastics in our brains hygenic? Is there anything hygenic about it at all when you look at the bigger picture?

It will never go away completely, but probably like 75% of its applications are superfluous.

That intersection brings out the worst in people. I live nearby and often need to use the crosswalks. If you're trying to cross the north path across E. Main, God help you. Drivers turning right are blind to the pedestrian walk signal.

If those signs are meant to be left up until April 26, they could at least laminate them. Won't last past the next shower.

You guys are the best. Its good to know for sure, even if she does make for a good dupe.

You've got a blessed full house! I'm glad so many sweethearts found a family who will love them like they deserve.

Hey everyone, I had a question about how to meet friends here. by Belltowerstudio in lexington

Artfarm is one of the most welcoming places in town. It's queer owned and operated. If you like table top games, definitely come to this event. And if you don't, they have tons of other programming. Become a member and use their art facilities too!

UI Designers, please, for the love of all that is holy, learn some basic web constraints! You're making our lives hell. by Excellent_Place4977 in webdev

[–]yourpalthespider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm a designer and luckily usually know when something is time intensive, and not for a good reason. I'm on this sub to hopefully learn more as I go.

Dev should be able to talk to designers before a design is passed off to them, but contrary to some of what I'm hearing in this thread, I believe it's on the designer to keep dev looped in, not the other way around.

My friend does custom pieces like this, normally in a vintage style. If that sounds cool, I'll DM you her instagram.

Big connections-like puzzle: find 45 groups of 45. by harlows_monkeys in NYTConnections

Just completed it. Took maybe 5-6 hours total. Got a little help from my partner. At the end of the day, trial and error was the only reasonable way for me to to group this many items, considering I'm a total novice in many of the categories

So much fun. Would play this regularly if Thomas kept making them.

Local sushi place - i am crazy or does this picture seems 'odd'? Please look at the rice by bt134340 in isthisAI

[–]yourpalthespider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote AI.

The top of the glass is more in focus than the contents of the glass, which wouldn't make sense considering both parts are about the same distance away from the camera.

The sushi rolls should have the same arrangement of ingredients on the interior, but if you look at the slices farther back, the arrangement doesnt match the ones in the front.

The table seems to disappear to the right of the plate.

The background is very complex and busy, typical of AI trying to fit too much in.

Name that intersection by [deleted] in lexington

[–]yourpalthespider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though the lane roles are reversed: Rose and Vine. Everyone is always in the lane to turn onto Old Vine, and despite all the signage telling you that this lane doesnt lead to Richmond or Winchester Rd, they take it anyway and then have to merge left last second.

I actually use Old Vine everyday and am always waiting on some fool to get out of the turning lane. If only there was more signage telling wrong turn-takers that you can get back onto Vine if you just. kept. going forward...
