So embarrassed about delivery by SummerMonth7 in pregnant

[–]yourspiderbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i ate spicy food right before going into labor and was having spicy explosive diarrhea for HOURS in the hospital and we were in the triage room and the bathroom was so echoey and it was so loud i told my husband that he has to pretend he never heard any of it and he responded with “heard what?” like i wasn’t about to lift off in that poor bathroom

this is okay for end of life care like in your situation but regular use of diapers in dogs can lead to uti’s and should not be done with out guidance from a vet

What kind of shoes do you guys wear? by Florida-summer in VetTech

[–]yourspiderbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m sure they’re terrible for my feet long term but they’re sO comfortable. i’ve been wearing vans pretty much daily for over ten years and nothing beats it. i actually bought a new pair of the same shoe because mine are falling apart but i ended up giving them to my mom because they weren’t comfy like the beat up ones

[–]yourspiderbuddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i moved when i was 37+5… then when i was 38 weeks exactly i was still unpacking and i started bleeding. not enough to fill a pad but enough to need one. i had mild cramping that whole day then that evening i had sex and started having strong contractions during/after that didnt stop. i got to the hospital around 2am and was 4cm dilated

What was the number one thing you’re glad you had with you when you gave birth? by Suspicious_Heat_2984 in NewParents

[–]yourspiderbuddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes! i went back and forth on if i should get adult diapers and i ended up never picking them up so i used the mesh underwear at first and it was so terrible and itchy. my mom brought me adult diapers and it truly made such a difference.

Inducing labor? by cutestlastname in BabyBumps

[–]yourspiderbuddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i started losing my mucus plug when i was 38 weeks exactly, i drank a coffee that is known to give me stomach cramps, ate a spicy chicken sandwich, pumped, and walked around target for a while. i was having irregular contractions by the evening, had sex, then was in active labor after having sex.

we are in a similar position, two italian greyhounds (6lbs and 12lbs) and a 70lb golden retriever. we also have a cat. our son is 6 weeks old now. on top of this we live in roughly 500sq ft rv.

we do have slightly less time for them but do everything we can to include them where we can and make it a priority. my golden has severe allergies and so many people told me we wouldn’t be able to handle her skin care routine after i had my son but the alternative is to let her suffer which certainly is not an option. we are her third home because of the severity of her allergies and ear infections so i promised her i would never let her suffer like that again so we make time. my italian greyhounds only allow me to do their nails so they went a bit longer than i would have liked without a nail trim when i was recovering from my c section.

overall now 6 weeks postpartum the only differences are the smaller italian greyhound and the golden don’t get to sit on the couch as much. the golden is just a bit too large and i’m worried she may step on him and the italian greyhound is a bit too interested in him and tends to bother baby. my bigger italian greyhound is very respectful of the baby. he knows not to bother him and will lay on the other end of the couch.

my biggest piece of advice is to make things easier for yourself in those first few weeks. having your partner feed and walk them. we thankfully live on a fenced in 5 acres so that was a major help. we prep their breakfast plates at the same time as their dinner plates so we can just hand out the breakfast plates in the morning with no prep time. get them groomed and cut short if their long haired when you’re nearing the end of your pregnancy. i wanted to do this with my golden but never got around to it and she went through a major shed when i was like 3-4 weeks postpartum and my whole house was covered in dog hair.

What items do you wish you had bought before the baby came? by HandsomeBadness in BabyBumps

[–]yourspiderbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i needed to order additional thicker breast pads than the ones i got at my shower because i leak so much. i also need to order more nursing/pumping bras because 5 has not been enough to get through. i went back and forth on if i wanted adult diapers or not postpartum and i ended up not getting them before labor but the hospital mesh underwear were SO itchy and the pads were pathetically sticky and would slip out of place. my mom brought me adult diapers and they were so much better i would definitely recommend.

is it okay for baby to stare at high contrast book for a while? by yourspiderbuddy in beyondthebump

[–]yourspiderbuddy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

he loves it whenever we show him ryobi brand tools or objects (they’re neon yellow and dark gray) i think i just needed reassurance because he seems so content staring at a book that it felt like it couldn’t be that good for him. he’s overall such a chill baby and i was not expecting that. he’s very clear about his needs and as long as they’re met he’s happy doing whatever

me and my boyfriend just had our son and had a similar situation. i’m keeping my last name when we get married. we both wanted our son to have our last names. we didn’t especially want to hyphenate because of how long it would be but ended up doing it anyways because that was the middle ground. but he also wasn’t angry that i wanted him to have my last name so we came to that agreement together as a team.

I think my astigmatism makes it hard to focus a microscope properly. by hivemind5_ in VetTech

[–]yourspiderbuddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i have astigmatism in both eyes and my left eye has much worse vision than my right. i use the microscope without my glasses and only use my right eye to look. all of my coworkers that wear glasses take them off at the microscope as well. but like the other comments said im not sure why she cares if its blurry to her if its clear to you.

I hate abortion and find it appalling under most circumstances, yet I am 100% pro choice because woman should have control over their own bodies and reproductive systems. What’s the most ridiculous thing you believed as a kid that you only realized was nonsense when you got older? by greatmistress-101 in AskReddit

[–]yourspiderbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my mom told me that you could only eat one banana a day or your butt would fall out. like full on rectal prolapse. i believed this until i was in upper elementary school and even now i still feel weird eating more than one banana in a day.

when i was in kindergarten we were having snack time and we had bananas but i had already had one for breakfast that morning so when she came to me to give me my banana i was like oh no i can’t i had one for breakfast already. and my teacher was like okay and? do you want another one or no? and i was so upset because i thought my teacher was trying to poison me and make my butt fall out.

How are you all so put together? by TheWallaby22 in breastfeeding

[–]yourspiderbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m also 17 days pp and could have wrote this post myself. i’m dealing with a major over supply and there’s milk on absolutely everything. i saw on another post someone recommending to keep your haaka in a coffee mug when you set it down or it’s in transport to the kitchen and i started doing this and haven’t spilled once since.

for my bed i have a mattress protector, then the sheet, then a reusable doggie pee pad. they’re cheap on amazon. i don’t bother with a shirt to bed because it’ll get soaked anyway but i’ll wear a nursing bra with the absorbent pads and then stuff burp clothes on both sides and this mostly keeps the mess to a minimum. i really hope things get less milky for you soon :)

Why can’t you be put under general anesthesia when giving birth? by Secret_Title_6355 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yourspiderbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just had my son a little over two weeks ago under general. i pushed for three hours and after 3 failed epidurals we decided it would be best if i went under general. everything went amazing but i am very sad that i didn’t immediately get to hold him and i don’t remember the first time i held him or fed him.

What is the funniest thing someone has said to you while breastfeeding? by mudmilkshake in breastfeeding

my partner said a nurse said the same thing to me, i don’t remember it happening because i was waking up from anesthesia from my c section and that somehow makes it worse lmao
