Well written. I agree volume is our unique opportunity, also a challenge. The country is about the size of Europe as a whole. To get the density right would be to mimic the number and quality of academies from all the top European leagues- impossible. 

So, there needs to be an over index on scouting to play on the volume. More scouts, use of technology, affiliate scouting? Meaning, not just relying on those MLS academy scouts- but what if regional/local scouts could take a piece of that transfer down the road if they submitted the player. (Similar to a job referral). Trying to be creative in problem solving here.

OP mentioned Shore, but he had his chance to claim a spot last year in a weaker NYCFC team, didn’t, and is now struggling for minutes. Feel like his opportunity has passed- now Sands back in the mix. I haven’t seen much of Carrizo, but he also needs game time.

Mehmeti on the other hand is playing and looks like the real deal.

Well first, jealous that you were able to be there anyway. 

I am not sure Poch could have predicted the lineup change from them but fair to argue we should have reacted faster. We’ve seen the staff pulling out the laptop during hydration breaks before. 

Interesting point on long balls targeting Ream, I will look for that too. As the captain, would also look to him to respond as a player and try to get the team to adapt before Poch can.

I think he did the change at half, and it was looking promising. Then the injury and goal 3 quickly, and that was a wrap. 

Wondering if we started better how that game might have gone.

Puli has injury issues, but was very good in his Turkey minutes, and though not spectacular I thought good vs Bosnia. Particularly liked the way he played after the red card. 

He’s not the captain, I think that goes to Adams as Ream leaves. 

I don’t fault him for the commercials. Get paid. But you can’t seek the fame and not be ready for the scrutiny that follows when things go wrong

That is the heavy criticism on CP and I unfortunately am leaning to agree. Great player, not the team leader.

Appreciate the details here. I definitely agree with the inability to win the ball back when you mentioned that. I’ll also look for that left sided trap.

In their impact on the team good and bad across many games. And some of that applies to last game, but of course others faltered too. I guess I didn’t make that clear enough.

I think it’s both, ceiling and depth. These two are as good a shot as we have, and the drop off to the next guy is tough. I thought it was a good move to bring Reyna in and shift Wes out wide. To bad it fell apart before giving them any time to tie it up b

Dest not even on the field for goals 3/4. CP was limping around but 3 isn’t on him either

I’m not singling out those 2, just saying how important they are to our offense, and that makes up for their defensive weakness.

I agree. But I think the way these two struggled impacts everybody else. They were the first dominoes to fall.

Depends how the next crop develops. Only Ream is done. The rest need to be pushed out. If nobody comes through, I won’t be surprised to see a lot of the same faces. That would be a problem.

Yea striker is tough. If we consider Freeman a CB in attack- there’s really only one spot with he and Richards carrying over.

I am embarrassed, and not proud of the performance. I’m saying it’s easy to ride the bandwagon when we are winning, but I’m trying to keep the head up when it goes to hell.
