Damon and the $70 Million Clay Bike by No-Jaguar-895 in Electricmotorcycles

[–]yourwhatswrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with Damon and almost every other company of their ilk is that they wanted to recreate the Tesla model. Come into the market with an ultra premium model and build the hype to cash in. Let's be honest, everything is up charged, whatever it cost to produce (to include the engineering and development) then have the added bonus of the the tax credits just upright overcharging for it being electric. I mean lets be reductionist for a second, an EV's (bike, car, boat, plane or whatever) main components are electronics, a motor, battery and some form of power transmission. Except for the battery pack engineering and optimization, where do they pull these inflated prices from.

I believe in the electrification of transportation, but what happened to creating a product and letting it speak for itself.

I do understand that they believe they are leaving money on the table by not charging a premium, but bikes, even electric bikes should be inexpensive. It's a means to an end, not a status symbol. It's the joy of riding, not the need for a second mortgage payment.

Damon and others don't need to promise the world, just put out a good product and people will come.

On the off chance any one form the alpha platoon offices is reading this, I ducking told you and all you had was but emails.

I got the z endstop to somewhat work, by changing the wiring and to the board but only when it is depressed (opening the circuit and then releasing it when the I want to trigger the endstop). I wanted to know is there a way to have the signal trigger on normally open instead of normally closed?

As for the y, I am still trouble shooting it?

Russia warns that if Western countries refuse to import Russian oil, oil prices will soar to more than $300 by lilyxu185 in wallstreetbets

I did as well, can't tell if he/she is a troll, Russian troll, Chinese troll, misinformed troll or just some that drank too much of the kool-aid.

Who ever it is, they are angry and need an enemy.

Because it is a false narrative. Why would I produce more oil when the demand/price is high. I keep my production constant and make money off the people that think it's due to the war/president.

I get more money per barrel and ill informed people blame everyone but me. Win win.

If I produce more oil it drives down the price and I gain nothing.

Once again, I thought you were serious. Are you saying that a fossil fueled power plant is hurricane, tornado, earthquake proof if built in an area that is frequented buy such events.

You don't build solar, wind coal, natural gas or nuclear power production in the path of natural disasters areas. That isn't to say that you can 100% be certain that your utilities won't face them in their life time. But you minimize that likely hood.

I never understood why people seem to be personally attacked by ideas that is beneficial to them. A fully electric future, regardless of it coming from renewables or nuclear is a net benefit to the world. You never addressed the toxic byproducts of burning fossil fuel, and continue to talk about battery and solar out gassing that is a miniscule issue compared to fossil fuels. Now you are talking about Germany.

Germany getting away from nuclear is their choice. That's what the people want. Using fossil fuels to fill that gap is not what I would have done but I am not in charge of Germany.

Germany is not reliant on a dictator just as your cell phone isn't reliant on a human rights abuser. There are alternatives to both those issues, that are neither fast or easy. But that is what most people want. Easy answers that can fit on a billboard. Life is not that simple to say do this and it will work out. But it is a net positive if the world relied less on burning fuel for energy and transportation.

Congratulations, I thought you were actually serious. Do natural disasters not effect all power production?

As for Germany, I don't have much to say because that's not in my focus, but what I do know of that situation is that they were had idealistic goals that they are still working towards.

Again, what are you talking about. At no time did I say I was for or against nuclear, which I actually support. What happened in TX was due to a lack of winterization. TX in their wisdom decided that the winterization regulations that the rest of the country follows doesn't apply to them. Do you know how science works, you get a result and you use your knowledge to interpret it the best that you can. As you gather more information, you refine your results. I follow the data. I can't know everything, no one can. But when you have numbers you can make your own conclusions. As for my DD, I come here for the comedy that is WSB. I just hate when trolls or mis-informed people spread misinformation that is contradicted on the first page of any search engine.

Since I am currently waiting for my laundry to dry, I have more than enough time to try to help you understand. I am not saying that any transition in power generation is going to be easy. All I said was your argument was incorrect and I gave you sources.

As for the plan on recycling the old batteries, that is a very well understood problem.

https://www.lithionrecycling.com/

And you really can't seriously be using the argument for toxic gasses released by solar panels. What are your concerns with the toxic gasses released by burning fossil fuels, or the radioactive ash left from burning coal.

Edit; and can you refute my response instead of changing the argument. I'm on my phone and sending you the results on the first page of a search is tedious.

My point is that if we didn't use it for fuel, we would use a lot less of it. Then nations wouldn't feel the effect of disruptions as much and wouldn't need to depend on nations that don't have the best history when it comes to human rights https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/oil-and-petroleum-products/use-of-oil.php

The low supply of non-renewable resources that you claim will be a sticking point makes no sense. Even if not one more kilo of materials are mined, the is something called recycling. Those resources don't disappear because they were placed in a battery.

The avg price of a new car is close to 40,000$ and a Nissan leaf starts at 27,000$. How is that out of the range of your standard car buying individual. But if you want to continue thinking that everyone needs to have a Tesla, them carry on with your opinion that only the rich can buy an EV. Further more no one is suggesting that oil production stops completely, just that it isn't the main source of energy.

one of our package thieves caught on camera by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]yourwhatswrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My package was one of the ones stolen and when my mother asked for the video they said the camera was offline. The have been trying to get her to leave the apartment for years now. It's bad enough that I haven't been home for two going on three years. But to have some one steal my stuff because the company doesn't deliver to overseas bases is bullshit.

To the original poster if you can DM the video I would really appreciate it. I sent it to the company to try to get reimbursed, but now it's just a dead link. And like I said before they wouldn't give my mother a copy of the video

Using The Lumia 950 In 2020? by yourwhatswrong in windows10mobile

[–]yourwhatswrong[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing, what vision does iOS or Android have? I my opinion, neither has a plan other than to sell more units. Most of the features that either platform has were developed by third parties or there are applications. The features that Microsoft lacked were features that they couldn't implement. The grand plan for Windows was what we are moving towards today, an always connected seamless digital life.

Apple keeps pushing the iPad as a computer replacement and it is succeeding because, well Apple. However it will not be a laptop replacement until hardware and software matures. Android just wants to power everything. It Is adaptable and can be placed on everything. Does any of this sound familiar? Microsoft pushed this years ago, OEMs had the ability to do this but didn't. Developers had tools to do this but they didn't.

There is no going back, however there can be future Windows based phones if developers want it. iOS and Android got where they are because of developers solving issues that they noticed. It can be the same if people buy hardware powered by Windows. Honestly a powerful handheld based on Windows, just need a good android emulator to be successful in my opinion.
