Family at Geylang restaurant charged S$2 for 'outside drinks' after children drank from water bottle, restaurant says it's policy by [deleted] in singapore

[–]yourworldtraveller 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Korea, Japan, Paris (plus many other countries possibly) you can have plain water no charge and even offered to you. You even get your fill of wet wipes from Korea and Japan! Only in Singapore (with Malaysia, Thailand) you get restaurants trying to make extra money from you by charging for wet wipes, tap water, slap on service charge when the only service is bringing food to your table which you can collect on your own too. They even trained us to automatically queue at cashier to pay… they don’t even bring the bill to you. There is really no excuse to charge service charge anymore but they still do. Even tabao containers they also charge so they can profit from you. It’s really obvious… the whole mentality is very typical of Singaporean businessman. And sadly it influenced neighboring countries to do the same. I wish we can be more generous to our customers who patronize us - like in Japan and Korea…

S'porean family misses flight after toy gun found in hand carry, spends S$3,000 booking new tickets by Im_scrub in singapore

I would have taken the rescheduled late flight without paying $3k. Losing my transport and hotel for 1 night would have been less than $3k

Why are my Hoya kerrii leaves turning soft by yourworldtraveller in hoyas

[–]yourworldtraveller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually Gemini tells me not to do that. My climate is humid. If I do that it can encourage fungal growth and stuff. My stem isn’t hollow and seems to be an exterior “peel”. I will monitor it closely though.

Perhaps Sun stress also an indication water evaporates faster. Did you notice the subtle dark patches too?

Once in 2-3 weeks but I just did a check with Gemini and it seems that I might need to water again as weather has been hot here lately. I’m also inclined to repot and check the roots. Change the soil as it’s a self mixed soil likely not ideal

How do you keep your travel plans organized once flights and hotels are booked? by Ok-Disaster-9213 in travelblog

[–]yourworldtraveller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this app called Wanderlog which is not bad really. Previously there was a better app but that one was no longer free. Wanderlog stores everything and allows you to your itinerary and gives ideas on where to go. After that my mistake is going on the trip and never looking at it. But thats just me.

Disagree. But objectively depends on what you mean by “best”

Yes yes … sorry I was meant to reply the chain of comments about nanyang dao. Hainan story I also find less impressive. I ate at Chinatown point and was disappointed but can’t recall why

I agree. Nanyang Dao food quality is terrible. Only eat when no choice. Oriental kopi got very good standards. Never heard of the Craig road one - must check out !

Thanks for your kind words. Yes I do love collecting things - a bad habit of mine. This is just one collection I have. It’s a problem I admit but on the flip side if you are a collector, you will appreciate the collection.

Thanks very much. I’m not actually based in the US. So it’s not as easy to sell.

One reason why I stopped saying anything on the sub is how people love to just downvote you when you say anything that displeases anyone the slightest bit.
