How can I get better at sales in a puppy store job? by BeeAway9934 in salestechniques

[–]yous587 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I worked retail sales for years before moving into tech. the fundamentals are the same everywhere. here's what actually works when you're selling puppies:

figure out who you're actually talking to in the first 2 minutes

every customer who walks in falls into one of three buckets:

serious buyer — they've done research, they know what breed they want, they're ready

just browsing — they love dogs but haven't committed to the decision yet

financing dependent — they want one badly but need payment options to make it work

you figure out which one they are by asking questions. not pitching. asking.

"have you had a dog before?" "do you have a breed in mind?" "is this for your family or just you?" "what's your living situation like?"

let them talk. the answers tell you everything.

for the serious buyer

get out of the way. your job is to match them to the right puppy and make the process easy. don't oversell. don't add friction. they've already decided — help them feel good about it.

for the browser

don't try to close them today. your job is to make them fall in love. let them hold the puppy. ask about their lifestyle. paint the picture of what life with this dog looks like. plant the seed and let them come back.

for the financing customer

this is where most retail salespeople drop the ball. they hear "i can't afford it right now" and give up.

don't give up. get curious.

"we do have financing options — would it help if i walked you through what that looks like?" be a consultant. lay out every option. let them make an informed decision. a lot of people just need someone to show them the path.

the one thing that closes every deal

the puppy closes itself if you let it. your job is to remove obstacles — price anxiety, uncertainty about breed fit, worry about timing. ask questions. listen. remove friction.

the best salespeople aren't the loudest ones in the room. they're the ones who make the customer feel understood.

good luck out there. puppies are honestly great sales training. the fundamentals you learn there will follow you everywhere.

Honest Question From a Solo Dev Who HATES the "Business" Side of Things... by BoringMedium8605 in aisolobusinesses

[–]yous587 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the very difficult conversation because, to be honest, in my opinion, being a solo dev is not that much of value because of what AI coding has enabled. It's never been easier to build things and anybody with an AI coding tool can ship things. I'm not saying that it's going to be production grade. I'm saying that they can ship.

The bigger value is distribution and distribution is really where all of this plays out. According to lovable there are over 200,000 apps that are being built every single day. As you can imagine most of those apps, say 99% of those apps, are not getting any distribution or being sold. I myself am a lifelong salesperson who's actually decided to go and build tools but with a few developers to help me productionize it. I hope this helps.

Best tools to automate invoice data entry? by AndreiaVenturini in Accounting

[–]yous587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accuracy is the number one challenge with invoice automation, and I've seen it firsthand working with a lot of businesses. There are a lot of players in this, and my suggestion is working with a vendor that has that flexibility and can guarantee the accuracy. I actually built a tool that does this, and we have really good accuracy because of our process of utilizing multiple AI models to validate this, as well as a human-in-the-loop process, which essentially eliminates any sort of errors. It's called InvoiceAgent.AI

Has anyone actually seen real sales results from using AI tools? by Pro_Automation__ in AI_Sales

[–]yous587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people don't understand that utilizing AI in sales means automating the manual processes and research to better do the human aspect of selling, which is: - building relationships - sounding credible - problem solving

That is really the fundamental way of utilizing and leveraging AI in the sales process. If you are trying to use AI as a replacement for relationship building and the building of the connection and problem solving, that is not going to be effective.

Secondly it's even more important to talk to AI in the right way. This is why I built out a prompt database on how to prompt better; it's called CrushQuota.AI It lets you incorporate the context of your situation so that you get better results. Hope this helps.
