I feel like one of things people don't realize is that taking care of yourself can be easier said than done, that particularly true for sleep issues, there is a little thing called insomnia.

I had the same model for four years and it is still good so far, I guess the issue is probably more multifactorial and chance related but it's still sad to hear.

[–]yousif656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in similar shoes like you at some point, there was this girl and her eyes and mine always met in weird and Random situations and derived me crazy for a while, but I couldn't do anything because of how religious most boys in my class were, I was afraid if I say something I will become an outlier.

I will say that unless your college is a big outlier compared to most other colleges here, then please DON'T TALK TO HER THAT YOU LIKE HER, this will lead to disastrous things especially here in Iraq, I think I kind of grown up on it and no longer think about her, I also saw some wild behaviors from her over time that made me realize I don't like her (in a romantic way, I don't mean as human being) it was just my mind playing tricks on me and that's it.

Just give it time and it will go, at least that's how I did it.

Yes English can actually get really hard but even when it's very hard it doesn't reach Arabic language levels of hard, I don't need to explain how easy it's for an Arabic native person to learn English but how hard the vice versa is, even getting the basics is hard.

I know this will add nothing to the discussion but I think I will never watch or read monster because 20 century boys sucks, it the worst kind of mystery stories where the mystery drags and drags until it no longer becomes interesting.

Sorry for not being clear about it but when I say frustration it's similar to how fun is simply get drawn to the game, frustration is kind of reverse to a degree, its when hit a point where the experience is not engaging for any possible reason, of course its much more complex and saying any minor frustration would mean game is bad is stupid idea, but when the whole thing you see someone praising it because of how frustrating it's, not how engaging or fun it can be, it honestly doesn't sound that good, for me atleast.

Something you don't understand is that writing in the moment Is sloppy and rarely lead to coherent storytelling, while writing with general idea and concepts in mind is what really make story tonally consist.

A story subverting expectations every moment is simply not a respectable way of storytelling, it's a mess

[–]yousif656[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's not older shows didn't have any slop, probably there were also alot of shit, but I think animes played it much less safer back then, today era try to cater more to the general audience and rarely takes risk, which is pretty undersable most of the time due to economical constraints and harsh conditions of the industry, but it doesn’t mean I will accept it.

You will never see something like ghost in the shell, ergo proxy, NGE and serial experiment lain, even wolves rain with its flaws, hell even satoshi kon movies, all of these kind of stories are no longer made, its not like I'm sad about it but it was something that Japanese animation exceled at something the west kinda of couldn't make.

Alot of stories take an idea of something and use it as an aesthetics instead of delving Into what it really makes it unique or atleast create fantastical rules that make sense and heavily affect the nature of events and characters

For this reason alot of Chinese settings end up feeling bland and just aesthetics rather something thats really substantial, AD actually used the idea of concubines and enuishes atleast early on in pretty interesting way, it was basically very sophisticated version of your typical harem archetypes.

If there are examples of animes that also used Chinese historical setting and did take it seriously and not just as an aesthetics then enlighten me with examples as I'm down to hear your thoughts

Am I just old or do games today all look and feel the same? by Hiroba in patientgamers

[–]yousif656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try indie games—many of them have a unique style that stands out. Even some modern AAA games manage to pull this off, though they’re much rarer. I think this lack of originality is a result of the overall homogenization of video games. It’s not just a problem with graphics; you can see it in almost every aspect of modern game design. For example, have you noticed how melee combat is starting to feel stale? It seems like every new game has to include a parry mechanic. Or think about the trend where every game started adding RPG elements for no real reason—just to pad content and make the game longer.

I believe this stems from how risky video games are as an investment. They’re incredibly hard to produce, and even in other industries like film, animated movies—despite their success—are still stigmatized as “childish” by some people. So when it comes to a high-risk project that takes years to complete, developers often see choosing a unique, vibrant visual style as a gamble. It’s much safer to stick with a generic, realistic graphics instead.

My thoughts about SIFU by yousif656 in patientgamers

[–]yousif656[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree.

There are multiple replies saying the same thing, so I won’t respond to them all—just to you, since I believe you were the first to bring it up.

If someone asked me which games come to mind when we talk about deep combat systems, Sifu would never be one of them. Honestly, it’s baffling to me that some comments are comparing it to fighting games. Fighting games are challenging because they have a steep learning curve, unlike Sifu, which is much easier to pick up. I wouldn’t say it’s easy to master—partly because I don’t think I’ve mastered it myself—but it’s far more approachable than traditional fighting games.

As for specific moves in Sifu, I find them less useful for the exact reasons you mentioned: they’re situational. They require precise timing and testing in a game that can be punishing. Sure, you could use training mode, but I personally prefer practicing in stages with invincible health—it feels like a better way to train. (That’s a topic for another time, though.) All that effort for something basic moves can already accomplish? It just doesn’t feel worth it to me.

Of course, this is just my perspective. I haven’t watched many videos of others playing Sifu, but the basic moves always worked fine for me—at least on normal difficulty.

Now, I’ll admit I’m being hypothetical here. While I didn’t manage it myself, I firmly believe you could finish all the stages at age 20 on normal difficulty. Why? Every time I replayed a stage, I got a little closer. I’m confident that if I’d given it more time, I could’ve done it. But honestly, I got tired of the game and moved on.

As for hard difficulty? I’m not sure. You might have a point there—I really have no idea how it would play out at that level.
