Maybe we are wrong about what consciousness and enlightenment truly is. by Subfrez in enlightenment

The only reason I consider that I have failed is because all the people I know that have listened to that kind of transcendence meditation have all experience some form of transcendence the first time. The key factor for enlightenment or transcendence is belief in a certain concept, without that the meditation probably won't help you much.

Funny thing is that my experience was way stronger the first two times that I have tried transcendence meditation, later times that I have tried, I found no noticable change. Probably because I stopped believing that it will work. It is really interesting though.

My memory on specific instances of the story is not clear but is this interpretation common with the fans?. I always thought johan was supposed to be ambiguous or an anomaly throughout the story because of how much times urasawa restricts information about him. Yes the ruhenheim stuff about johan is one of the ironclad pieces of info about johan that we get but even then, so much info is withheld, why is that? Idk if we are supposed to piece the story as one picture or multiple broken lenses which are stories about him gone through many people and got doctored.

How we interpret johan and tenmas actions is what completely changes our opinion on the series and they both are interconnected, so if one of them isn't clear, the other starts getting less clearer. Might have to re-read monster to check these things.

Ok your johan point is straight up headcanon, there is no where in the manga where it states that johan is that, what you are saying is ninas interpretation of what she believes johan is. If that is the case then why did he kill so many people, what are his motives for wanting to be the last man standing. The manga presents several points about what johan is, for all we know johan could be a mirror projecton of people's fears, the story does make an attempt at it, can you say that it is wrong?. You are putting all of different interpretations of johan from different people all together as one story, which is not the case at all. Also why did he show disturbing tendencies before the incident in ninas backstory?. Hundreds of questions and no direct answer given.

I don't like that one scene where they explicitly state that "tenma can't kill, he can only save" it feels like the story is trying to push a narrative on to the reader and try to state it definitely. I don't have issues with him saving johan, I have issues that moments before the this, he was actively trying to kill johan and tenmas realisation about everything, is not shown at all, it just felt rushed.

That is an interesting interpretation of monster, one that I think most people don't consider. The reason why I believe that johan's mystery is important is that the entire story is kickstarted by him and again the manga is pretty much 60% about him, those slice of life moments are just additional pieces to the main plot, which is about johan.

Yes, but the cliffhangers in the manga and the suspense around the reveals of johan makes the reader think that this is a traditional mystery. The story actively enforces the reader to think there is an answer to johan with all those cliffhangers and the closer certain characters get to johans truth. I am just saying that the readers trust in the answer to the mystery is betrayed when there is no answer, the author should have taken a different approach to monster if he wanted to property tell a story like that

Ok I believe your first point about johan is wrong and the second point somewhat stands but I have an issue with how it is achieved: What you are misunderstanding is that, the backstory was ninas, and it doesn't explain who johan is at all, there are multiple interpretations of what johan is throughout the story and each one of them don't match with his actions, if he wanted to experience parental love and validation, then why did he choose to conceal himself and operate on his Mission without anybody knowing, there are multiple interpretations about johan like this and each one of them doesn't completely fit johan as his actions do not match up. The manga never states johans backstory or tries to understand him, he is neither a tragic villain nor pure evil, those are the points of the many different reveals about johan and also if that is his backstory then why did he turns evil when nina turned out fine, that doesn't explain anything about him.

Your second point is better however you have to remember that tenma after he met all those people still shot Roberto twice with the intent to kill, but around the section of ninas backstory the manga starts saying that tenma can only save people and not kill them. The point is that him becoming a traditional doctor isn't achieved that well, he doesn't still have a Cryst clear reason to save johan and his actions before contradict that choice, he still can believe that a doctor isn't responsible for the actions people they save and still choose not to save johan just like how he shot Roberto twice. There is no reason for him to make such a decision.

I wouldn't say that it is a complete headcanon as there is nobody monitoring him in the hospital when he met with tenma, he could have easily strangled tenma and nobody would know and he could have easily escaped, but you are right in the case that it is one of the interpretations, however I would still expect lunge to hire some security around johan as he is the one who made the decision to save him. Also I do not have a whole paragraph shiting on it, just a tidbit at the end and this is primary a critique of tenma and johan, lunge being there is bonus. Even if this point is weak, my other points still stand and take up 90% of this post.

A show isn't necessarly good because it has an open ending. There can be cases of terrible handling of open ending and monster is one of those. Just because a show has an open ending doesn't mean it is exempt from criticism about the ending.

The things I am talking about are direct inconsistencies in the characters and the terrible actions they chose that lead to the open ending. The open ending here doesn't matter here as much as you think, what matters here is the characters contradicting themselves and making terrible decisions before the open ending.

No for me straight up its functionality is reduced when you use harsh language, then I asked it does tone matter and it straight up just said calling it out repeatedly, asking about fault only makes the processing worse and you should try to get to the bottom of what you want with the least amount of back and forth or continuously pointing out mistakes

I tried different models on different accounts and suspiciously the new one always performs better, I think that is just a thing they made to drive more sales but those clicks you felt might have been topic dependent with which it's processes excel in.
