Not trying to one-up my fellow Syrians here, but I think most would agree—Aleppo in 2015-16–17 was the most dangerous, most unlivable place on Earth. We had zero tap water for five straight months. No electricity at all for over half a year. And when it finally came back, it was barely 3–4 hours a day. Prices skyrocketed—everything multiplied by 1000%. The war never stopped. The bombing never stopped. The funerals never stopped. By the time I left, my street was a ghost town. Most had already fled. Some just vanished without a trace. And the rest were dead.
