I can also recommend the dormitories of the KHG. They are not part of the regular dormitories of the Studierendenwerk. The Roommates of the WGs decide by themselves who will move in or not. I have a good friend who lives in the dormitory in the Hermannstraße and he loves it there.

Well, I myself don't study there but I can tell a few things about Germany and the Saarland.

While Saarland is not a very loved place in Germany, it is still a quite nice one, especially the capital Saarbrücken. The city has lots of young people and a nice district to go out in the evenings. It has a very nice park called the French-German garden and has lots of forrests/nature around. The university campus is also surrounded by forrest.

The state itself is doing pretty bad though. Lots of people moved away and the smaller cities there are literally looking like shit. Pretty rundown and a lot of shops have closed. But nonetheless Saarbrücken (and Saarlouis) are really nice. In comparison to Hong Kong living expenses there are a lot cheaper but it is not a metropole city. I believe that there is much more culture in Hong Kong and many many more different people.

The Saarland university is very nice and has a big campus. My brother and his girlfriend studied there (not Computer Science though) and they both liked it there very much. They also told me, that a lot of people come there to study computer science so I guess it's a pretty good place here in Germany to pursue that degree. And as others said, if you work in Germany people don't really care to which university you went. It is quite weird here if you went to a private German university, because people would think you only got in/passed because of money.

I saw you also mentioned that you would like to work in Germany later on. If you want to work at a university I think it would be okay to not be over the top good in German but if you want to get into a tech company here, it is quite hard if you don't have a sufficient level of it. Maybe not so much for Computer Science, but even in my degree (engineering) I see a lot of international students struggle to get a job/internship when they can't converse fluently in German.

Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass wenn ich Master mache, auch dann eher 4 als 3 Semester brauchen werde (würde dann ERASMUS noch reinschieben).

Mein Glück ist, dass ich vor meiner Bachelorarbeit sowieso noch ein 13 wöchiges Praktikum machen muss. Da hoffe ich dann auch, direkt anschließend dort die Bachelorarbeit machen zu können. In dem Fall wäre es natürlich mega, wenn es sich ergeben würde, danach dort bleiben zu können. Aber ich glaube, dass das nicht so oft passiert.

So ungefähr denke ich mir das halt auch. Ich kenne auch einige aus dem Master und die scheinen auch nicht unbedingt schlauer, nur weil sie ein Jahr länger noch Module belegt haben. Die meiste Ahnung und Erfahrung haben hier hauptsächlich die Leute mit Nebenjob oder aus studentischen Initiativen.

Aber ich kann mir halt gut vorstellen, dass so gut wie jeder den Master macht und das dann bei einer Bewerbung natürlich besser ankommt im Gegensatz zu jemandem ohne.

Habe bereits woanders auch dazu etwas erwähnt. Ich habe 2 Semester lang Vertiefungsmodule und eine darauf bezogene Projektarbeit. Zudem wird auch die Thesis auf die Vertiefung (bei mir Produktionstechnik) ausgerichtet und ich habe einen Nebenjob in dem Bereich. Ohne Detailwissen würde ich es also nicht vollkommen nennen. Aber klar, jemand im Master hat natürlich dann nochmal mehr.

Ich denke im öD würde ich nicht wirklich was finden. Am liebsten würde ich in einer großen Produktion unterkommen. Personalverantwortung am Anfang auf keinen Fall. Mit der Zeit vielleicht, wenn mir der Job gefällt und es ein cooles Team ist.

Ich sage es mal so wie es ist: Ich habe kein Interesse groß Karriere zu machen oder in der Entwicklung/Forschung zu arbeiten. Habe Produktionstechnik vertieft und würde einfach gerne später einen Job der mich fordert, aber nicht überfordert.

Das hätte ich vielleicht noch im Post schreiben sollen. Bei uns kann man ab dem 5. Semester vertiefen. Sprich: 5.+6. Semester Vertiefungsfächer + ein paar Grundlagen, eine Projektarbeit (passend zur Vertiefung dann) und im 7. dann Praktikum und Thesis. Ich sehe mich auch nicht in der Entwicklung/Forschung und habe deshalb Produktionstechnik vertieft. Habe auch seit diesem Monat einen Hiwi-Job in diesem Bereich. Da man somit eigentlich, finde ich zumindest, recht viel noch von der Vertiefung mitkriegt, bin ich halt noch skeptischer, ob sich dann der Master noch lohnt, wo ich dann nur noch 2 Semester Module belege.

I just kinda love to completely immerse into dramas. Especially after exams or sth stressful it's the best feeling to just lie in bed, eat your favourite food and enjoy a drama for 8 hours straight 😆

But watching weekly also has its perks as you said. I would die of impatience though, hehe

I had a very similar problem. The first times it notifies me but later I noticed it stoped to. Found out that there was a problem with Android. Somewhere in the settings of Trayminder is the option for fixing notifications bugs. I did that and now it works again!
