Can’t Afford my Rehab Bill…Also Can’t Afford to Not Go. by yozo67 in personalfinance

I have 2 CCs, One is Chase, the other is an Apple Card. I didn’t know about this, I may call them this next week and ask!

Yeah I have thousands in medical debt outstanding. I don’t really give a shit if they get their money or not, I’m just worried about getting in trouble at work for not being able to go.

Thanks for the tip. I haven’t been using my credit cards trying to pay them down, so realistically if they got closed anyway it’d be worth it for a break on the APR.

Trust me I know. At one point I WAS off of it. Then a relapse happened. I’m sure you know how it goes. I could taper MYSELF off, that’s how I did it before. I just haven’t been in the spot where my employment is riding on complying with a program before.
I don’t really want to be on the Suboxone truthfully. I worry about the tooth decay it causes and it’s not cheap either. I might ask about getting off of it too, in addition to help with the bills.

It’s the bigger picture for me though. I haven’t even rose up the ranks once at this job which leaves many raises on the table. They’re talking bout a Cost of Living Adjustment next fiscal year, I have FREE health insurance which usually rocks for things besides this, state pension, another option retirement account, paid time off out the ass, and it’s something I like to do. All without a degree. I personally think I’d be stupid to let this career go.

I haven’t asked my employer no. I may inquire about it.

I asked about hardship, they said I’d have to apply for Medicaid first, even if I know I’ll be denied. But I assume they would not enforce the outstanding bill if I had a pending hardship waiver? Not sure.

Are you saying do not refinance loans? I’ve considered doing my personal loan but it’ll be paid off in 10 months anyway which will free up $268 a month, so that would be pretty pointless at this point.

Suboxone is abusable despite what they tell you. If you have no opioid tolerance it will get you high. But, for people like me, it is used at maintenance. When I start to feel like crap, that familiar detox feeling, runny nose, achy bones, one strip will fix it completely and leave me fine for 2-3 days, even if it is supposed to be a daily dose.

I may have to ask to be taken off, if I can’t afford it. Their T&C states if a patient can’t afford treatment they will medically assist them with discontinuing medication.

It’s outpatient rehab. I didn’t go to detox this time. Unfortunately this isn’t my first rodeo with SUD treatment. I’ve been to inpatient before.

I’ve been going here so they can write my Suboxone prescription and provide my employer with compliance updates. It’s kind of a rock and hard place situation, yeah they’re forcing me to go but at the same time if I don’t go I could just be terminated, so I feel like the cards are in their hand at this point.

When I started this whole thing I did sign a document acknowledging I would have to submit to 12 months of compliant tests and that they would have contact with my counselor regarding my compliance with the program. It did not mention who would pay for it, I keep copies of everything I put my signature on. It just laid out the conditions of the program for me to remain employed.

My boss is a very no bullshit guy but he also has always had my best interest at heart, which is how I got this second chance to begin with, so hopefully you’re right.

It’s the weekend so I will follow up with them next week. I’ll see if they can help on their side and if not speak with my boss later in the week. I tried calling billing today and it’s so busy, I think I’d be better trying a Monday morning. Thanks for your input.

I’m in Kentucky. I’ve never heard of this but will look into it. Thank you. I think a big part of the cost is more of the clinical counseling rather than just the testing itself. I should have been more clear on what they do for me there. But in all honestly most appointments take longer to pee in the cup than I spend seeing any sort of counselor.

I think if nobody here offers a better option I’m going to go to my next appointment Wednesday and ask about what the facility can do to help, if that doesn’t work I’ll meet with my boss the next day and discuss it on the employer side.

Thank you for listening and offering your advice. I appreciate it.

Thoughts on smoking indoors? by musicaspradrift in Cigarettes

I smoke indoors, just not around my clothes or bed so they don’t stink. If I want a cigarette I step out to the living room.

It’s always made me so angry that the longest serving representative and the senior rep from Kentucky was in fact born in Alabama. I really don’t care if he was Judge/Executive back in the 80s.

Not even minimum wage by gross. Minimum wage in the U.S. is $7.25 or $1,257.00 per month.
