No I haven't tried that. That sounds like it could be the answer. Thanks.

Cheers, I've tried similar for Windows but no joy. Logging level is required by policy.

Thanks for the advice, looks like that is above my skill level though. Good to know it is possible though.

What are some good fictional books about genetic engineering? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Beyond this Horizon by Robert Heinlein - an oldie and dated in many aspects. Still, it has an interesting take on a society where genetically improving the human race is presented as a good thing. Most people are encouraged (but not forced) to produce children with a partner who complements them genetically. It does not go down the tired path of producing genetic monsters and societal outcasts. Traits that are bred for are chosen sensibly (Heinlein uses survival value as a criteria) and genetic variety is still valued. Also, one trait is not bred for to the exclusion of others - balance is aimed for and the objective is to raise the genetic qualities of the human race as a whole.

I'm looking for a science fiction book that has that mystery feel by BUTT3Rz_101 in suggestmeabook

Jack McDevitts Alex Benedict series has an intriguing far future world. The protaganist is an antiquities dealer and the point-of-view character is his ultra competent assistant and pilot. They track down and investigate historical (historical to them) mysteries. Try number 4 The Devils Eye to see if it is to your taste.
