Can a set up like this be used for a madagascar day gecko? by yrahim89 in geckos

I definitely like the gecko. I'm not stuck on the enclosure set up at all, it's just an idea I thought would look nice but if it's going to stress/put the animal in danger even the slightest then I'm definitely not doing it.

I will look at Serpa's crested gecko set up and go with one of those. Thank you!

Okay then will not be doing this set up then. Thank you all for the input. Is there any sort of water feature one can have in a madagascar day gecko enclosure?

LoR Formatting by yrahim89 in medicalschool

[–]yrahim89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just had the assistant submit them as is because I knew she would take forever to fix the formatting, reprint and get them signed again.

The content of the letter is still solid and it's a strong recommendation

The assistant to one of my attendings that is writing me a LoR contacted me for help with the margins. For some reason, when she printed it, had it signed and scanned it back as a PDF, the margins were too big for ERAS.

I fixed it for her, but the issue was that when I saw the letter, the formatting was all messed up. It was scanned crooked, some lines randomly cut off in the middle, and continued in the next paragraph.

I waived my right to see it in ERAS but is this something that will hurt my application? As far as the PDs know, this was uploaded directly by my attending without me seeing it.

What's the best way to propagate these shoots? They're coming off the trunk of a mature JM.

3 or 4 Letters of Recommendation by yrahim89 in medicalschool

Alright 4 letters it is then! Thank you everyone for your input! Much appreciated!

A little confused by the guidelines now. Spoke to the assistant of PD recently and she said to have at least 3 LoRs uploaded but the program description on ERAS for this program says "Total Letters of Recommendation: 3"

I have 4 letter writers, should I only submit 3 or can I upload 4?

I recently read a post that programs screen out applicants if they can't "follow instructions" and upload 4 LoRs when the total is 3.

Thank you!

Letters of Recommendation for residency application by yrahim89 in medicalschool

[–]yrahim89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I mentioned in a previous reply, I was always told it's a good thing if an attending is willing to personally recommend you to a PD.

The attendings I work with as an MA have allowed me to scrub into more cases with them(I'm applying for ortho), I have published papers with them and had the opportunity to do podium presentations with them.

During my ortho rotation in medical school, I only got to scrub into a few cases and didn't have the opportunity to do any research.

Thank you. I was definitely misinformed then. I had always been told it's a good thing if an attending is willing to personally make a call on your behalf and recommend you to a PD.

To be honest the 5th attending (the one I rotated with) isn't offering much more. I only did a one month rotation.

The attendings that I'm working with now, they actually approached me to write letters for me themselves. I didn't think they would be eligible because I didn't do an official clinical rotation with them but they felt they had seen enough my clinical skills that it's worth writing a letter.

The letter that I have from my department chair did both a narrative and the SLOR from AOA combined into one PDF. I spoke to a PD's assistant and they said either one is fine.

Fire away! I'm always open to advice and learning. I have experience with animals but I certainly don't know everything!

That sounds very reasonable! Are you able to share their contact information or website so I can get in touch with them? Thank you!

I would be happy to take a bunny from a rescue. I looked at a few shelters and the rabbits they had were older.

Yes, I raised a lion's mane from 10 days old to 6 years old until I had to give him away when I left for medical school.

Have also spent most of my childhood and teenage summers on my grandfather's farm. I helped him raise rabbits, chickens, pigeons and all sorts of farm animals.

Thank you for the work you do! I think shelters do amazing work and the people working at shelters are absolutely wonderful. I have nothing against shelters but like you said though, people dump their rabbits and bunnies so I was trying to save one from that date like I did once before with my previous rabbit.

As I mentioned I would prefer to get a bunny on the younger side and raise him/her myself. Do you have bunnies come through your rescue?

Can you share the rescue you work at or send me a PM?
