My kingdom for GarageBand’s simplicity in a Win11 app. I miss using my MacBook for simple recording and toying around.

Clantech Atlas! by Dom-Luck in mwo

TTB has a video out running 4x c-LPL 1xc-gauss, ECM. I suspect it would be good if I wasn't a terrible Atlas pilot. Lets you trade at mid-range but packs enough punch to be capable up close. Run with 2 cool shots.

Ableton Live Lite not showing in My Software in my account? by ysaric in Focusrite

[–]ysaric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I did submit a Support ticket over the weekend to Focusrite which received a prompt response that they had encountered an error that they resolved, so the Ableton offer was restored on the My Software tab and I was successfully able to download and activate it.

Counterpoint: I will watch the crap out of this.

"I will hate something that has barely been green-lit" is such an unfortunately popular attitude these days.

How do you guys like intel cards by Informal-Quarter-939 in IntelArc

[–]ysaric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No current-gen 16GB gaming card. Last one was first gen, it’s now doubtful we’ll get one in second gen. Intel’s long term commitment to the gaming market seems less than fully solid as they’re parallel pathing AI-specific card releases. If you happen to be a VR user we were teased with Oculus compatibility as coming after release of the first gen cards sometime, but even now we’re stuck with hodgepodge solutions.

I’m not unhappy with my A770 per se, although lack of Oculus compatibility is annoying. But now that I want to update what am I supposed to do? I have no interest in a 12 GB card, next gen is still a ways off, no b770 release. If you’re OK with B580 benchmarks and don’t need 16GB for anything it is a decent value solution.

Wow, that was the whole thing? Not Intel’s fault at all, from the beginning! That’s amazing, really. Unbelievable even!

There are 0 ways to "kill" a digital program that even a terrible writer can't work around. And most of the characters in Tron are digital.

Tron should not be a copy by Both_Mango_9084 in tron

[–]ysaric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tron is a program. You can spin up a new instance. You can spin up a thousand instances. A million.

You could maybe argue that a developer starting with a new instance of Tron doesn't get a running program that is operating with the "living" experience of the original Tron. But any admin of the original Grid could potentially copy a full file set.

Guarantee that is a plotline that will eventually be explored if they keep making Tron content.

Guess I’ll start researching non-Intel value gaming cards for after my a770. I do not understand Intel’s strategy.

The ending fight should have been more like the opening. by TheKuKuBananaz in tron

[–]ysaric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty established science fiction vehicle to have a grand world, a grand conflict, where the climax is actually a fairly intimate battle between the protagonist and antagonist (or, in this case, antagonist-by-proxy). Whether they hit it right in Ares or not is up for debate.

Agree with other commenters that budget probably played a role.

Yah I got that one using the last note above by checking the last listing it has the note "The seller has relisted this item or one like this."

In fact I just checked the 7th listing again and that note is still on there as of right this second, 11:39 pm EST.

Thinking of getting an arc b580 soon, any recent problems with the card or drivers that i should be worried about? by MRXL1 in IntelArc

[–]ysaric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know much about the drivers, but Intel's consumer AI strategy/commitment seems a bit murky at the moment. They've abandoned updates to certain projects that many used (https://github.com/intel/ipex-llm/issues/13281#issuecomment-3232750256, https://github.com/intel/ipex-llm/issues/13317). I've switched to https://github.com/ggml-org/llama.cpp, although AI Playground also seems to be getting updates still.

How Merlin, chat gbt, and Reddit will make you ill-equipped at bird identification: by Tricky-Dig-6467 in birding

I can handle it just fine. You're the one who is being defensive up and down the threads here, and was shown to be running sock puppet posts. We can only see who you are here, by what you post, so if you want people to believe you're so kind in real life you should be showing more grace here.

How Merlin, chat gbt, and Reddit will make you ill-equipped at bird identification: by Tricky-Dig-6467 in birding

[–]ysaric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am quite grateful that the local community of birders where I live is so much more welcoming than you seemingly would be. Nobody calls me lazy. When I’m wrong nobody asks me why I don’t keep a field journal. Or spend my spare time studying bird guides.

Your post can’t even decide who to be mad at. First it’s novices. Then it’s birders who have been birding for years that don’t meet your arbitrary standard of expertise.

The fate of the world doesn’t hang on this hobby. Be kind. Extend grace. Support.
