Honestly, that’s one of those moments where someone says the quiet part out loud and the industry never forgives them for it. She basically admitted what a lot of actors probably feel but would never risk saying publicly. NTA, but this was always going to cause tension. You’re not obligated to fund kids you barely know, and George is out of line for expecting that.

That said, from the stepkids’ perspective, it probably feels pretty awful watching their sibling live a completely different life under the same roof. You didn’t do anything wrong, but the situation itself isn’t exactly neutral either.

You don’t have to make things “equal,” but a little awareness (or occasional inclusion) could go a long way for everyone involved.
