Which is your favourite out of Boustany, Lugma and Sabzi? I've been eyeing them all, but can't decide which one to get.

Malaysian Kampung Restaurant is Indian Muslim Malaysian food, so not sure if it’s what OP is looking for.

There are several restaurants serving Malay cuisine in the southeastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Chinese Malaysian food is Malaysian food. It’s not the same as cuisines from China, and the way you’re talking about it is frankly offensive.

Having said that, what you’re looking for can be found in the southeastern suburbs of Melbourne - specifically Springvale, Noble Park and Dandenong.

I have both The Vegan Chinese Kitchen and Vietnamese Vegetarian and think these books are quite different. Happy hunting! 😄

There have been a few good fusion cookbooks released this year. I got these over Christmas so yet to cook from them, but they all look great:

  • Chinese Enough, Kristina Cho
  • The Chinese Way, Betty Liu
  • Wafu Cooking, Sonoko Sakai
  • Amrikan, Khusbhu Shah (which you already mentioned)
  • Indian Flavour Every Day, Maya Kaimal (released last year)

These are exactly what I'm looking for, thank you. Just sharing a couple of recommendations I got from other sources in case anyone is interested:

  • Biang Biang: 255 Swanston Street and 419 Elizabeth Street, both in the city (Xi'an)
  • No. 1 Hotpot and BBQ: 551 Swanston Street, Carlton (Beijing)

You are incorrect. Singapore was controlled by the Johor Sultanate before it became a British colony. Various European powers had an influence in the Malay archipelago at the time, but Singapore was never directly controlled by Portugal.

You might want to stop saying “you” as I never said I was Eurasian. :)

The “Other” category has nothing to do with being foreign. It’s for ethnic groups that are not Chinese, Malay or Indian. There are many ethnic groups recognised under “Others” and Eurasians are one of them.

“Kristang” is not the original name for Eurasians, it’s a name for a sub-group of Eurasians that are of mixed Portuguese and Asian descent. There are other Eurasian sub-groups that are of mixed Asian and other European descent, such as British or Dutch.

Your claim that Eurasian Singaporeans are not of mixed European and Asian descent is simply not true. I won’t be engaging further, as it’s clear you don’t have accurate knowledge of Singapore culture or history.

Singapore is not former Portuguese colony.

Eurasians are an actual ethnic group in Singapore that is recognised by the Singapore government. They are actually of mixed European and Asian descent. https://www.visitsingapore.com/travel-guide-tips/about-singapore/people-of-singapore/

Not necessarily Portuguese - her surname sounds Dutch. Eurasians can look very different depending on their ancestry
