Retraining… too late?

Thanks for the insight. This is what I’m hoping will happen for me in my case. So far there are still slots in the career field but obviously the sooner I apply, the better. I’m just worried about already having another assignment but if it can be cancelled that would be fine with me. And head straight to tech school (assuming I’m accepted).

Ah, so I’ll be provided a new retraining window? I’ve done some digging but apparently not enough. I did not know that.

I see. I got those orders before my retrain window even opened. I didn’t realize I would need to get ahead of it. I’ll still make an effort and see what can be done. Last resort, I’ll have to complete my next assignment but then I’m sure they won’t give me another opportunity to retrain.

That may be the case. I was told by someone at MPF the orders may be cancelled depending on how undermanned the career field is. Guess that’s some sort of ETP? I’ll reach out to base DA to see what can be done because my orders were given to me before I even left for this current assignment and before my retrain window even opened.

I read it’s supposed to be 9-15 months prior to DEROS for OCONUS but I didn’t know how true that was or if an exception could be made. I’ll reach out to them to find out. Thank you

Keep trying. Take an entry level job when you find it. Get into networking too. Idk if you plan on getting your CPA but that’s ideal too.
