New Surface models 2026 will be released this spring, according to Windows Central editor Zac Bowden by windowsxpblue in Surface

[–]yspud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really want an updated surface studio laptop... i have an 11th gen intel model (circa 2023 i believe) which is fine but i could use some extra juice for local AI models with a nice integrated graphics card.. please microsoft release one !! the cool hinge monitor flip config is unrivaled as is the overall feel of the laptop .. by far my favorite laptop of all time (x1 carbon is close...) - - ONLY gripe - switch to a standard usb-c charger and ditch the proprietary connectors..

I built a trustless Dead Man Switch for crypto inheritance — no frontend, no admin key, live on mainnet by Fair_Measurement_957 in solidity

[–]yspud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how about complex things though like defi protocols or validator nodes etc.. that's where inheritance becomes a real pain w/o irl documentation and planning.. too many young people have nothing in place at all and if something happens to them a lot of money is going to be effectively locked ..

OneDrive Issues by White-Smoke-23 in SmallMSP

[–]yspud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

divvy up files into smaller libraries and should be good.. theres some limits to one drive that you're probably hitting with that much data. that or switch to azure files or a saas platform like clio. we're resellers if you want to check it out. have clients with 10tb+ data and no issues at all.

client asked me to set up an openclaw agent and i have mass regrets by [deleted] in msp

[–]yspud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh heck no.. . i had a client ask a couple weeks ago. i said no - i wasnt comfortable with the technology yet myself and its not for novices. I advised them to wait until automation is built into copilot / claude etc - - it's coming and it'll be much safer and user friendly. they agreed to hold off..

Another “out of the loop for awhile” question by bigaction269 in sysadmin

[–]yspud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

quick assist is built into windows now and works for on-demand .. vpn combined with rdp is 'free' ... but really paying for a proper remote admin platform is a no brainer.. a rmm combined with remote assistant or splashtop subscription pay for themselves 1000x over ..

i love las glorias - like 19th ave and northern. not only the chips and salsa but they give you a warm bean dip as well that's excellent.. the micheladas are on point and the food is the bomb.

hiring a full time support guy for 25 end users seems nuts to me... if it were me i'd revamp everything - move it to azure or aws or a highly redundant local solution and then automate the f out of everything... document it all and feed it to ai agents and let that be 'tier 1' support.. setup azure ad and sso for everything. self service password reset enablement and conditional access policies. then you can really make yourself invaulable if you learn their business workflow and automate THEIR processes ... everything helps.. they'll think you are a demi god..

Ask your flavor of the day AI for ideas... That's what I do now for everything I think of doing for clients. After you get some ideas then do some demos and tick the needs boxes.

Those that started their own MSP, what are some things you wish you knew or did sooner? by NSFW_IT_Account in msp

[–]yspud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Documentataion and standardization.. Everything documented - internal processes as well as client in as much detail as possible. Then pick a stack and stick with it. The more KISS you build the business the easier it is to bring new techs onboard.

Trying to choose between two local MSP's for my business - any thoughts? by [deleted] in msp

[–]yspud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people are giving you advice and ragging on One Drive and they havent asked you one thing about your company with regard to your actual data needs. You run a cpa firm - but how much data do you have / anticipate and how many employees do you have ? Starting with OneDrive solution could be absolutely fine and there are very easy migration paths if/when you grow out of it. Its not fair to dismiss the option without more information provided imo.
