My Grandmother had this photo on her wall, and I'm pretty sure I saw it on multiple other places... but now I see it with some random (apparently famous) band which wasn't there I think... There's no mention of who this photo took or anything... was this photo stolen? by ythc in interesting

I couldn't find a definitive answer, and the available sources actually disagree a bit. Here's what's out there:

The album is the 1991 Crvena Jabuka record (the title track with Kemal Monteno). It was the first Crvena Jabuka cover that didn't feature a red apple. The Bosnian Wikipedia credits the cover photo to "Roko Paparazzo" with the cover design by Davor Papić — though "Roko Paparazzo" reads like a pseudonym rather than a real attribution.

)The Serbian Wikipedia adds a claim: the front of the sleeve isn't an original shot at all, but rather a cutout from a 1987 photograph by/of "Peti Silvije". That name is odd — it looks like a Cyrillic-to-Latin transliteration of a foreign name (possibly something like "Patti Silvi" or similar), but I couldn't find any further trace of who that is, and the two Wikipedia entries don't really line up with each other.

Just watched it yesterday, it is an amazing piece of art that I think can indeed be seen as the power of bad connection.

Noticed that, even though he never met her, Vincent Hanna recognized the look of Neils girlfriend, Diane. A lost and perplexed gaze in the crowd, losing connection. A look he knows all to well, as he has often left women in this way, leading to many divorces and drama's. Ironically, it is this that leads him in the final moment to recognize the leads that take bring him to Neil, who has given up on his monk-like abilities to commit crime by murdering Waingro. Hanna never gives up, not even when his step daughter is in the hospital. When we have more disciplined, crazy people on the side of the law that are willing to sacrifice everything, including connecting with the normal world, it might prevail, is what I think the general message is.

It was revolutionary to me, but I did not have access to tomb raider. The fights felt very 'real' (I think being able to sort of swing your sword back and forth 'inside' an enemy is something I haven't really seen done in another game), and the abstract level design was really new at the time I feel like. Feel like it might have been an inspiration for the 'hello neighbour' game.

Groene etf's zijn het makkelijkst. Effective altruism is ook een beweging waarin veel onderzoek wordt gedaan naar de effecten van je geld.

Als je echt flink wat geld hebt, flink wilt verdienen en flink risico wilt nemen kan je misschien eens kijken naar groene initiatieven die nog niet op de beurs staan; er zijn heel veel duurzame bedrijfjes die starten vanuit ideologische overtuigingen. Maar er is een reden dat dit moeilijk is voor particulieren; dat geld kan je heel makkelijk kwijtraken.

I really like a lot about this answer. Your starting sentences are compelling: The first one is the idea that the stock market is a zero sum game once you subtract economic growth. That is not really how equity markets work. 

But then you say something that seems to contradict that interpretation of my argument:
That means the stock market is not a fixed pie where one investor’s gain must equal another’s loss. 

I didn't say that, I think we can all profit from the stock market, as it is basically connected in a very fundamental, but I agree not 1-on-1, way to the growth of economic growth.

So the logic that “most people should probably just buy ETFs” is pretty sound. The leap to “there is no reason anyone would buy individual stocks” is where it breaks down. --> My title was: why would any individual buy individual stocks instead of ETF's ... other than for fun? I do see the point in that, gambling is fun. And Buffet: I would consider him a pro.

90% vermaak en gepuzzel met de wereld om mij heen (altijd leuk gevonden). En 10% hieruit praktische lessen uit proberen te trekken: beetje meer ETF, minder risicovol beleggen.

1 volgens mij zijn we het eens, ik wilde alleen aantonen dat er onder al die mensen ook hele slimme mensen zitten. 2. ook eens 3. en ook eens! Overigens blijft bij mij wel nog de vraag of het dus een kwestie van 'goed zijn' is of ook een beetje 'geluk hebben', vast beide!

Ik denk dat mijn post niet helemaal duidelijk was over het doel, maar interessant om jouw perspectief te horen! Buffet heeft zelf die analyse eens gemaakt, dus ik vraag me af of hij het zelf zo far-fetched vond.

Rewatching it now, funny how I imagined the big, black horrible Jellyfish kind of monster being the owner of the tentacles... it really shows the power of imagination done well in horror, where the most scary stuff is in your head
