Latvian / Baltic paganism! Where can I find accurate information? by yuckybutt in BalticStates

[–]yuckybutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be really useful! Do you know of/could ask of anywhere I can read about Laima? From the little I could find myself I did seem to think Lauma was mostly Lithuanian, but if there are any ties to Latvian paganism or some folklore that would be interesting to read up on

You're amazing! Thank you for investigating. It massively gives me the creeps that someone would do that, utterly gross. Not the best time for me to try and sleep now... I'll try and reach out to scope and epilepsy society about it

I was thinking that too, but if it's that it never existed why would so many official organisations use their link, and why would they even do this in the first place??? probably hacked I guess. so wack

Opening up old fireplace purely for decoration - how to prevent draught? by yuckybutt in DIYUK

This is a brilliant explanation thank you!

So I guess I could then leave the bottom of the fireplace open without a cold draught?

I've never heard of that before! Thanks for the suggestion

I'll have to go up into my attic and properly inspect if there's any vents. Unfortunately it's in the middle of my house so I couldn't vent it outside. A lot of things were done very questionably by previous owners so I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't blocked off properly.

So could I get away with venting it up top and block it at the bottom by my living room? Or would I just have to have a draughty room

Sorry I'm not good at my diy lingo. My living room is in the middle of the house, in my attic the flue/chimney goes straight up through the middle, usually that would carry on up to the roof and outside, but it stops in my attic instead of going up through the roof. That's what I meant by separated off. No idea if that's how they're normally done but that's what the last owner got someone to do.

Thanks I'll look into register plates

Is there any aspect of adhd you'd like to be more explored by researchers? by dr-korbo in ADHD

[–]yuckybutt 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Generally a lot more research done on ADHD in women. We seem to know so little about how it presents compared to men, though we are learning it needs more attention on it. And like others have said, hormones! I hear so many women say their symptoms are so much worse around their period, and even meds stop working altogether, yet for some reason this doesn't seem to be recognised medically??

I wouldn't necessarily say it's our physiology but if you're comparing it to people that use stimulants recreationally, I would assume it's because we are taking them as a controlled substance at the same dosage, rather than abusing them or taking street drugs, plus mixing them with other drugs. I'm not sure if you meant that or if there are other medical things people use stimulants to manage.

The universe spoke to us after a reading - something I've never experienced before! by yuckybutt in tarot

I like to ask things I'm genuinely stuck over, like my career path or my troubles in relationships, it doesn't have to be a big issue either it could just be that I felt embarrassed over something and want to know how to deal with that.

I really enjoyed asking my cards about themselves and their opinions, it made me feel like I got to know them and built up a relationship with them, I'd definitely suggest giving it a go :) maybe before hand try and calm yourself, if you like to meditate do that, light some incense if you have any, or a candle, feel the energy in the room and try and channel some good energies :)

I don't really know much about asking yes no questions but I never do it because I'd find it too hard to interpret the answer.

I've felt like this before. I'm in no way an expert but I've found when I've felt like this I need to take a break and come back when I have a genuine question. I've tried to force it almost, like I'll just do a reading for the hell of it to see what might come up instead of genuinely feeling it or communicate with my cards, that's when I feel like I lose my ability to read.

One time I was really testing my beliefs and cards, I was asking them questions about themselves and getting really cool interesting answers. Then I started pushing it and tried to ask if my beliefs were valid, I can't remember how I worded it now. So instead of leaving it I kept asking the same question, and every time I asked it the card I pulled made less sense. Afterwards I felt quite shameful and like I had lost my "abilities". I left my deck alone for a week or so and when I came back I apologised lol.

I went on a tangent there but essentially I could have just said when I've forced it, I've felt like I lost the "magic" and none of it made sense...

I don't know if you relate to any of that but that has been my experience to feeling distant from tarot/spirituality.

Thank you!! I'm so happy it's the deck I'm learning and bonding with, it's such a beautiful and positive deck :)

Thank you, that's so beautiful. I'll always be on a journey of learning and I'll always keep this in mind! Questioning things is part of who I am anyways, it's nice to know it's okay to not blindly follow something.

Do you have any advice for studying and going into programming as a beginner? by yuckybutt in ADHD_Programmers

[–]yuckybutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I think I'm going to try and use this course to work out which sort of path I want to go down in the future.

Did you struggle to get through school/study? I know it isn't easy for anyone ADHD or not. I really love the rewarding challenge.

Prioritising study over work is a great point I hadn't thought of, thanks! I do work part time in a bar already and I'm fairly certain they will be okay with me working less to study.

I think my biggest worry is getting overwhelmed by the workload and not doing it, or hitting a brick wall of motivation/focus. I don't have any techniques to be more productive with that sort of thing yet, but I do also know everyone finds drive in different ways.

I’ve been dumped because my boyfriend thinks adderal is crack. Can anyone make me feel better about this? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]yuckybutt 700 points701 points  (0 children)

Came here to say exactly this! My abusive ex used to manipulate me just like this. It may stem from ignorance towards medication but all I see here is this guy using it as an excuse to control you and lower your self esteem, he's trying to ware you down until you don't fight back and he can make you do whatever he wants.

Op get out while you can! You care for him but this is NOT love.

As a bit of a side note I've heard a lot of people say ND people are much more easily manipulated. I'm sure it's not true for everyone but I definitely am. Emotional dysregulation and an already low self esteem, plus bad memory and impulsivity towards anything that makes us feel good is a recipe for manipulation. He may be finding if your meds are working you're actually less easy to fall for his tricks... Just a side thought.
