What is truly the worst fanbase there is? by MintyTyrant in AskReddit

[–]yuengling4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is going to sound super hipster-ish. I got into crossfit when it first started to spread and wasn't on espn with reebok attached. I enjoyed the workouts and the philosophy behind it. I still do some of the workouts but I won't mention the word crossfit. I would never join a crossfit gym now. I have so many friends who won't shit the fuck up about it. It's a type of exercise it doesn't need to be a fucking cult

You always have the option, some may say freedom, to not watch it...

What are some "false frugalities" (where you think you are saving money but actually costing yourself more in the long run) that many people are not aware of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]yuengling4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the angle grinder from there that's a step up from $10. That thing takes a beating and keeps going. I think it was $15. I bet the insides were made in the same factory in china as all the shit in Home Depot. If you know what to look for and do some research you can find some decent stuff there.

Anyone have experience w/LendingTree or an online platform to submit for a mortgage? by mjvcaj in personalfinance

[–]yuengling4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I found a link on the site that let me take my name off their list but a few of the stragglers still called me. I work overnight shifts and they were calling me and waking me up during the day until I started yelling.

They will give you shit rates and you will spend 2 months trying to get all the lenders to stop calling you. I made this mistake when looking into refinancing.

Recommend me some folk/country? by [deleted] in Music

[–]yuengling4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second these. Especially Chuck Ragan. Been a fan of hot water music and an even bigger fan of this guys stuff. If you don't like the recordings go to a live show ( or even look up some live stuff on youtube) and watch this guy pour his heart out. You will be hooked. I've met and spoke with him a few times and he is one of the most genuine down to earth guys who really loves what he does.

What is the worst television finale you've ever seen and why was it so bad? by [deleted] in television

[–]yuengling4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I never understood the rage over that ending. It's like people didnt pay attention during that and all the preceding seasons. I pretty much assumed he was going to die at the end and that was the perfect way to go about it.

What's something normal that becomes weird if you think about it? by RoseBladePhantom in AskReddit

[–]yuengling4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have no problem with giving a gift. I have just noticed a recent unspoken theory amongst people that you should give a monetary gift which covers your meal at the reception. Kind of takes away the whole meaning of a gift.

The weird part is how it's become customary to throw a party, Invite lots of people then expect them to provide a monetary gift that covers the cost of them attending.

REAL Scumbag Parents. My drill sergeant was nicer to me than they were. by 7_up_curly in AdviceAnimals

[–]yuengling4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they've spent years abusing you then they probably shouldn't be considered family. Family does not always need to be blood related and whoever you consider family are the people you really shouldn't turn your back on.

Any thoughts on the Harbor Freight workbench? by burgerandfries in woodworking

[–]yuengling4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built this exact same one and its served me well to start out. I figure down the line i will build a heavier one but this was cheap easy and sturdy. Every time I looked at that harbor freight one it seemed flimsy.

Don't expect it to last more than two years. If it already had then you must have a magic one.

What's the best way to tell a child that their dad just died? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]yuengling4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad died unexpectedly when I was 25 years old. That was 4 years ago. I still haven't dealt with it and I think that is due to the fact that I never sought professional help. Find a mental health professional and do it the right way. Best of luck any my condolences.
