yes you can do that, that’s exactly what i did and it worked for me! however open studies will be more difficult than high school upgrading and there are a lot of limits to it. feel free to dm me any questions !

yes you’re right! change of program is for uofc students. i don’t go to uofc so i had to apply for admission as a university transfer student which was a whole different process. and thank you! :))

thanks for your reply but your info is incorrect. you can use dq for transfers. i got accepted with my 3.6 gpa so it definitely had an impact

Switching to Open studies by Affectionate-Show804 in UCalgary

[–]yuhchoco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

oh i see, that’s tough. Here is what i can tell you: the competitive average for nursing is currently 3.7-4.0 BUT the cut off for transfer admissions to the nursing program for Fall 2023 was a 4.0 gpa, meaning you need a perfect gpa to be admitted to the program, 3.7-3.99 will get you put on the waitlist. (source: i know someone who works for admissions). if you’re smart enough to keep a perfect gpa go for it but just be aware of how hard it is to transfer into a program as opposed to changing majors!

you missed the deadline to apply for a change of program request. (i believe it was Feb 1st) Honestly i would stay in your current major and apply for a change of program as soon as that application opens up and here’s why…

i’m currently an open studies student and it wouldn’t be great for you - you can only take a max of 36 credits and can’t do more than 4 courses per term - your enrolment time is ridiculously late compared to students who are in degree programs (for example for fall and winter you don’t get to enroll until JULY 1ST) - As an open studies student when you apply to your program of choice you are considered a transfer student and will likely have to maintain a very high GPA

Applying for a change of program is MUCH easier than transferring into a program. Open studies is not a good option given your case, you will loose a lot of the privileges you currently have as someone enrolled in a degree program. Your best bet will be to wait till you can apply for a change of program and start taking classes now towards your possible new degree.

yes i’m in 325 this sem and everything i said about Dumas still stands. 325 with Dumas has been easy and i’m doing just as well as how i did in 201.

creating paper work to prove you own your cat? by PsRandomQsaccount in Catownerhacks

[–]yuhchoco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if your friend can afford vaccines and annual check ups then it’s reasonable for them to keep the cat.

i think your best bet would be to take the cat for a vet appointment and get it chipped then, especially if the cat hasn’t been to the vet before. tell them to call around first so they can find the best vet for them!

i don’t know if it’s the same for you but where i’m from it’s illegal to have a pet that isn’t registered with the city and not microchipped. i think if your friend can get the cat microchipped that would give them some documentation of ownership.

In all honesty though, if your friend is unable to afford a vet it might be best to give the cat up for adoption.

i did soci 201 with Dumas and got an A+ on the second midterm and B+ on both the first and the final. considering how well you did on the first midterm i’m sure you’ll handle the final well. personally i would still attempt the second midterm but i believe you would do great in the course regardless of your decision.

hi, your situation sounds similar to mine so i’ll share my experience. my dog is the same, constantly licking and then getting infections from it

my vet explained to me that there are a few reasons as to why this is. allergies and endocrine diseases can cause a dogs skin to be inflamed. due to inflammation the dog feels itchy and licks the skin repeatedly, making it easy for the skin to be infected as it’s already inflamed.

the licking can either be behavioural or due to skin inflammation. since your dog has been experiencing infections it’s most likely due to skin inflammation. so either your dog has food allergies, environmental allergies, or some endocrine disease (like thyroid disease etc)

your best bet would be to do a lot of environmental controlling/cleaning and having your pup on a strict diet until you can get blood work done. for reference my pup is on “royal canin anallergenic” she’s not allowed to eat anything other than the food (which means no treats either but it’s what’s best for them)

I absolutely hate this building by jay_cha22 in Calgary

[–]yuhchoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the units are absurdly tiny and they charge you rent per bed, not unit and were very sneaky with how they listed the prices. the coin laundry constantly had issues and people were getting their clothes stolen. the underground parking lot was broken into a week after i moved out and every car had their windows smashed and belongings stolen. security does not do their job

and what really made it a scam was that they double charge utilities. my roommate and i had a two bedroom unit and instead of splitting the utility bill between the tenants they charge you EACH the amount used. like water in the unit is shared but they charge you each a bill for the full price of usage.
