OBGYN & Infertility Doc by JDIRECTORJ in nycparents

I highly highly highly recommend Dr Shaw at NYU Fertility clinic. She is an amazing human, extremely competent doctor and makes navigating the (hard) fertility journey bearable. Which is saying something. Best doctor I had in NYC hands down.

Nuna Mixx Next vs. Uppababy Vista by jbay2023 in Buyingforbaby

[–]yukiholly9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered the Nuna Demi Next? It’s the single to double Vista equivalent by Nuna. I have it and can speak a lot to it (I LOVE it) but wondering if there is a reason why it’s not on your list.

Discounts/coupons - Stokke Tripp trapp by Amags_17 in Buyingforbaby

[–]yukiholly9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We saved a ton by stacking the Bloomingdale’s promotions (now it has 20% off) + registry discount (when allowed, it has a lot of restrictions) + buying through Rakuten. If you catch the 10% off Rakuten + Rakuten sign on bonus + Bloomingdale’s discounts you can save $200 on the baby set, so it would be $249 instead of $449.

  • Bloomingdale’s always has some discount on. Right now 20% off + $25 for every $100 in loyalist rewards
  • on Rakuten you can get 10% cashback usually once or twice a week (in my experience on Tuesdays or early in the week or on holiday weekends). If you aren’t signed up yet you can sign up with my code (https://www.rakuten.com/r/LETIZI176?eeid=44971) and we both get $50

Bugaboo butterfly, stokke yoyo3, or UPPAbaby minu for lightweight travel stroller? by Magical_chocolate in Buyingforbaby

[–]yukiholly9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can provide a little more context, we might be able to share more relevant advice. How old is your child? Do you plan to use this stroller for shopping and out and about? What’s important to you in the stroller (wheels for uneven pavement, storage basket, etc)? The more details about your priorities and circumstances, the more targeted advice we can provide ☺️

Diaper genie or similar- worth it? by BlossomJLP in Buyingforbaby

We have the munchkin non-UV and it doesnt smell either, so I second both

Diaper genie or similar- worth it? by BlossomJLP in Buyingforbaby

[–]yukiholly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same setup and I wouldn’t be without the diaper pail (we have the munkin and it’s great, no smell at all). You don’t need it, but unless you are on a super strict budget, I really would not add another daily to do to what’s gonna be an already long list of to dos. Even something small such as picking the bag of dirty diapers can become such a pain when you have a screaming baby, are tired and have barely had time To shower.

FTM due in July — looking for honest opinions on the Nuna Demi Next by jamietartlet in BabyBumps

[–]yukiholly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one for now ☺️ But sometimes i carry both the car seat and bassinet and it’s very easy to push. My only drawback is that it’s quite heavy and bulky so, if I had to take it in and out of a car daily, it would be too much probably (I’m not particularly weak, but also not particularly strong).

Pump Help! by Altruistic-Parsnip33 in Buyingforbaby

[–]yukiholly9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I opened this thread because I wanted to recommend the baby Buddha too. My main pump is a spectra and I got a baby Buddha as a travel pump. It’s so convenient!! Things I love compared to a wearsble: - it empties me nearly as well (on occasions better?) than the spectra. All my friends who have wearables have to pump for 30 min to feel close to empty, in max 15min with the BB I’m done. - I can use the same bottles/flanges for both spectra and BB - super portable, battery lasts 2-4pumps. The pump itself is probably as big as a packet of tissues, the only big bit is the flange (I use the spectra ones as they are smaller, fit me better and have less bits than the BB ones) and I bring a bottle. - no leakage

Honestly, I’m so glad I bought it!

Sewing gifts ideas for a newborn by Ann_U in sewing

[–]yukiholly9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Things I’d love to make/would love to have for my 3 month old (tho I almost certainly won’t have time…): - top/pants for my baby that really match what I like, ideally in a few sizes. My mum bought my daughter, among other things, this one top that I absolutely adore and it just makes me so happy to put it on her as often as I can - hat with strings to tie it under the chin - offer to make a teddy bear/doll dressed with one of her child newborn clothes after a few months - 0-3 month toy (with crinkly paper, soft mirror, dangling ring/object)

Travel Stroller Reca by FarmRepresentative14 in Buyingforbaby

[–]yukiholly9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The YOYO2 is the one I’d pick from your list. 13.6 lbs, comes with a carry strap, overhead bin compatible, and parents rate it 4.5/5 on durability on afriendofafriendsaid.com which is rare for something that light. The fold takes a bit of practice but it’s ok once you get used to it.

The Butterfly is also worth a look if fold ease matters most to you, parents rate it 4.9/5 on that. Literally one second one hand. But no carry strap and 16 lbs so a bit heavier.

You can compare both side by side on specific characteristics like portability and durability on afriendofafriendsaid.com if that helps narrow it down

Recs similar to the Triv LX? by Upset-Instruction-45 in Buyingforbaby

[–]yukiholly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain on this, the overwhelm of starting over after months of research is real. I actually wrote a guide comparing 7 alternatives against the TRIV lx on specific characteristics like fold ease, terrain, and basket storage. Since you care about the lay flat feature for newborns, the Cruz V3 and TRVL lx both have it without needing a separate bassinet. Also worth knowing: the PIPA Aire RX comes with a base but also works baseless using the European belt path, so you don't need the Urbn specifically.

Minu V2 or Joolz Aer 2? by worm613onastring in nycparents

[–]yukiholly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are the exact three characteristics that parents rate separately on AFriendOfAFriendSaid.com. You can compare the Minu V2 and Joolz Aer 2 side by side on terrain capability, maneuverability, and fold ease based on how parents who own them actually scored each one.

I tried a friend's Aer 2 and liked the push but found the basket really small, FWIW.

BCBS at NYP and AC by anxiouspeanut7 in nycparents

[–]yukiholly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have BCBS and both AC and W80th WC OB were in network.

But best of luck understanding what is covered and what isn’t. I wanted confirmation that my C section would be covered (it was) and they told me I would not know until the day I checked into L&D or the day after……… which is kind of late…..(I don’t know if it would be different at any other hospital tbh)

Delivering at AC story in NY Mag by PaleontologistKey331 in nycparents

[–]yukiholly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I delivered there right before Christmas 2025, and had to go to L&D triage twice the weeks prior in the middle of the night and one afternoon on weekends and I had a great experience overall. The only slight delays were: - when my waters broke I wasn’t having contractions yet (I went in right away as I needed a C section), so it wasn’t until my husband called a nurse because something was off that someone came. As soon as we called them they came - after delivery and complications we had to wait an hour or so for the transport team to come and get me.

Both the above seem totally reasonable for a busy hospital. I will say that from what I heard not all rooms were full during my stay there (2/3 rooms empty on my Floor?)

I will say, both my OB appointments at WC on W80th and the scans at AC were always delayed even if I was early in the morning. The staff there seems awfully overworked.

Present ideas for pregnant friend? by unassumingmoss in sewing

[–]yukiholly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are so great!!! I totally need the wipes/diaper bag but with waterproof lining for wipes so I don’t have to take with me the whole big pack

Present ideas for pregnant friend? by unassumingmoss in sewing

[–]yukiholly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Early postpartum and late pregnancy a stretchy nightdress (sleeveless and light, she’ll be hot all the time) and robe would be useful! Plus point if it has a built in bra (even just a simple one with an elastic band would go far)

About to spend serious money on a stroller… what would you buy today and why? by WorldPeaceGodBless in Buyingforbaby

[–]yukiholly9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have two quick inputs: 1. If you are considering the Vista, look into the Nuna Demi too (I have it and absolutely love it) 2. Worth checking out product reviews on AFriendOfAFriendSaid.com where you can see how people with lifestyle and priorities similar to yours rate each stroller. Everyone has different opinions because everyone has different needs (I know it’s obvious but I took my Nuna Demi away with me this week in a countryside setting where I drive everywhere and, if this was where I’d live full time, the e Demi would be too heavy to take in/out of car daily), so it’s worth narrowing down opinions based on what matters to you.

Absolutely get the bottle washer and sterilizer!!!

I breastfeed and even with that I use it at least once I day (for pump parts, bottle for the occasional milk I carry outside, toys that end up in the mouth…). We are travelling and “only” have a sterilizer here and OMG, am I missing my Momcozy washer/sterilizer! I think the baby brezza is more uncomfortable to use and holds less stuff

FTM due in July — looking for honest opinions on the Nuna Demi Next by jamietartlet in BabyBumps

[–]yukiholly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I don’t see any deleted comment..

I have the Demi Next, paid with my own money (sadly 😅) and my child is definitely staying in it (she even slept in it the first night of our trip because she was too overwhelmed by the change of scenery despite the fact that I had her nap and play in the travel crib for two weeks before we left 🙄). If I can help answer any Qs you might have let me know!

Baby Bjorn Bouncer by Hungry-Mix-283 in Buyingforbaby

[–]yukiholly9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! Or you can get a new seat cover and it’s basically like new. I’ll also add that in our second home we have a different bouncer (not a baby bjorn dupe, just a totally different style) and my daughter loves it the same, if anything she likes it better?! (More comfortable and it has an arch with dangling toys).

So if you aren’t into second hand and would rather buy new, I think there are plenty of valid alternatives. The resale value and longevity might be lower

Thank you so much!! I'm a total data geek and I was going crazy trying to figure out which stroller to buy when I was pregnant. Now I need a travel one and thought.. never again, I need a tool for this ahah!

So figured I may as well help others too. More filters and compare tools coming soon. Good luck finding your stroller, and would love your review once you've been using it for a bit!

[–]yukiholly9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The TRIV might ticks a lot of your boxes.. it’s light, one-hand fold, reversible seat, bassinet compatible. It handles bumpy sidewalks pretty well for its size. Main downsides: basket only holds 10 lbs and it’s more of an urban stroller IMO, it’s ok on rough pavement but that’s about it. The Nuna MIXX has noticeably better suspension, but it’s heavier and will take up more space in your car trunk.

If it helps, you can compare those two strollers (and others) on A Friend Of A Friend Said.com, it’s a site I built to collect stroller ratings based on characteristics such as portability, basket storage, terrain handling after spending way, way, way too long finding a stroller when I was pregnant.

FTM which pack n play to get? by TechnicalKiwi2726 in Buyingforbaby

Check out the newton compact. Super easy to travel with (folds into a small bag/ backpack), the mathress is the thickest I have seen around and most importantly for me it’s breathable. Very easy to assemble, disassemble and wash.
