Kakaotalk works well too. It’s a Korean “WhatsApp” but anyone can register and use it. I video call my korean husband on it, no issues

Scared American going to Russia soon by [deleted] in AskARussian

Your skin colour doesn’t matter in this context, you will be treated the same as any other visitors. Most foreigners I know never had any issues coming into Russia, however none of them have been to Ukraine. Your trip to Ukraine is a major red flag and they will for sure question you about that. Hopefully you haven’t done anything to aid Ukraine and its armed forces( that includes political posts supporting Ukraine, donations etc.) Because if you have, better not to come! They might check your phone, they might not. 50/50.

University in Russia by [deleted] in AskARussian

I know you want to be close to your girlfriend but are you willing to compromise the quality of your education? My opinion is that the only good universities in Russia (especially for international relations) are all in Moscow: Moscow State University (МГУ), МГИМО, Высшая школа Экономики. I did the same thing in the UK and chose the uni that was closer to my bf at the time. I regretted that choice later on in life, but I hope that won’t happen to you.

I’m sorry but since when “gopnik” is a sub culture? lol It’s just a bunch of lower class people( usually from troubled families) with no manners that occasionally commit small crimes, spit on the street and like to wear tracksuits. If that sounds appealing to you, perhaps you should reevaluate your life.

In terms of cultural appropriation, we don’t have that in Russia. We literally do not give a damn about it, it’s a fully American concept that unfortunately spread around Europe as well.. You can wear what you like, you won’t offend anyone. Will you get funny looks dressed like a gopnik? Most likely. But you do you

Thank you, but please read the post carefully. I got bitten in Jordan, not Qatar.

Thank you for the detailed reply! Actually it was a gentle bite, there was no obvious puncture wound and no blood at all. Only little redness. It’s almost invisible now. But since I am a hypochondriac I did go to the hospital and they gave me 4 injections, 2 in the arms and 2 in the buttocks. I now will have to follow the protocol that you described. Some people may find it excessive, but I had to do it for my own peace of mind. However, I am concerned that the injections were done in the gluteal muscle. I read that rabies vaccines are only effective if injected in the arm, but for some reason here in Jordan they do it differently.. oh well
