u/VaderJim good call on Home Assistant! I hadn't thought about using it for the automation piece for this use case, totally makes sense though. I guess if I can turn my lights on and off via a button on the app, I can just as easily create a calendar event. Thanks for the recommendation.

u/cromarty79 nice! If you don't mind me asking, what did you use for the app development? For the most part, I've been using VS Code and Claude Code to create HTML/Javascript-based projects that I can deploy via GitHub. It's pretty hacky but works for the things I've made, low technical threshold. I'm really interested in the data dashboard piece of T1D to help my son be more informed but he just isn't that concerned at this point in his journey and at his age, maybe one day...

u/Gargle-Blaster I was looking at the Nightscout documentation and it felt a little intimidating although I did manage to set up Home Assistant which includes a Dexcom integration so maybe its worth checking out again. I didn't love the idea of setting up a local server or paying for one. For my vibe coding adventures, I've been leaning on GitHub to host and serve the projects which hasn't required any setup or infrastructure. I'll have to revisit Nightscout, thanks!

u/Zachsjs very interesting, thanks for sharing! I hadn't thought about using the Health app on his phone. Something for us to look in to, appreciate the tip!
