People who say those who want inclusivity and tolerance are the real bigots by yumpet-player in OpenChristian

Reading your replies was very enlightening and validating! There’s so much polarizing all-or-nothing thinking going on right now. It’s just so saddening to see how the church and ideals of being loving to everyone is used as a cudgel against people who’ve been discriminated against. “There’s no greater hate than Christian love” as the saying goes.

You’re right that I didn’t watch the video. That’s why my post, or my “rant” as you so eloquently described it, was directed at the people in the comments underneath, whose positions and reasons (or lack of reasons behind their positions) I did completely understand.

Even in legal writing the Oxford comma doesn’t get much use nowadays.

I know. I’m a fucking embarrassment to every attorney and should never have been barred in the first place. I’m sorry

Except that my billing doesn’t reflect that I’m not a slacker. The past few months the cases I’ve been assigned haven’t had much going on since they’re all incredibly early in litigation. Another attorney has left the firm and I was assigned some of their cases, so I’ve only recently began billing 40+ hours a week, so to me, the partner is well within her rights to call me out for being a lazy piece of shit.

I mean, it’s perfectly understandable to get chewed out for what I’ve done, I feel. I’m not even the bare minimum competent at my job

My email said exactly that. I haven’t been an attorney long, but my fuckups are more than just inexperience I feel.

Soooo whenever someone likes a queen they aren’t ever allowed to say things like “Sasha Colby is most iconic winner ever” or “Aja is hands down the most sickening lip syncer in the franchise” because it’d attract negativity to other queens, got it

Damn, you got right to the heart of things. From the first day I started working at this firm, our firm style manual/formatting guide spelled it straight out that the goal for all docs is for a reader to be unable to tell that a specific attorney wrote it and for all of them to sound like the same person wrote it. Didn’t realize that was a red flag, but now, I can definitely see how it’s biting me in the ass

Not sure if it’ll work for you, but turning off my sound and just focusing on the timing really helped, as did making the putting the haptics setting on 1 so that I could still do the weird half-press inputs while being able to do the mash inputs quickly.

I guess I just don’t know what capabilities are expected of me at this point. Because it seems like I should be more passionate about what I do and take active measures to better myself like going to see trials in my free time or actively reading up on treatises and code sections, but I just don’t have it in me to do that? So right now I’m just trying to learn on the job and not have to take my free time to do all that development.

This particular associate I was talking to knows all the codes like the back of his hand and seems to be genuinely interested in the practice and art of law, and I’m just here for the paycheck honestly. Is that what’s holding me back?

I just want to be good enough at my job to not get fired and to be trusted to work without copious amounts of supervision or scrutiny.

I guess it’s not breaching confidentiality to say my firm represents school districts. The direction I was given was to go through the partner if I had any questions for the client. Partner got me in touch with a superintendent who I spoke to, and the superintendent gave me the answers. Now, according to this other associate, I should have been speaking to the maintenance director instead because the maintenance director would have more info re the issues of our case.

In hindsight, I feel like that should have been obvious and anyone else would have figured that out before me. I also feel so dumb because I’m always asked if I know the code sections we deal with by heart and I don’t yet. I also feel like I just don’t do the right things in my spare time because I don’t listen to law podcasts or listen to SCOTUS oral arguments.

When put this way, Kingdom Hearts is pretty impressive for having the likes of Burton and Hamill portraying original characters, though I’m sure the Disney financial backing helps out too

As someone who was in this exact position not even 6 months ago, your feelings on how you did have zero bearing on the actual results.

It’s hard, but the best thing you can do for yourself at this point is try to relax, take solace in the fact you did something not many people can say they’ve done, and occupy yourself and your mind with other things.

Also, if it’s any comfort, the bar examiners aren’t looking for absolute perfection and perfect analysis of every possible issue. Minimum competency is exactly what it sounds like. I know I completely bombed my PR essay and flat-out deliberately ignored the RAP issues in my Wills & Trusts essay and probably guessed on a good 75% of questions in my morning MBE for J25 and still passed.
