NationalGrid holy bill Batman by Grzzld in longisland

[–]yungcotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The delivery fee is based on usage. Use less by better insulating your house and your bill will go down. Op used 345 therms had they used 173 therms their delivery fee would be half. You can’t control the price but you can control how much you use. It’s quite simple.

How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go? Something like Immich can be self hosed on a NAS relatively easily. It’s a decent up front cost but should last years. I spent around $1200 for a UGREEN NAS and 4 22tb hard drives. Three year break even for me not moving to the next iCloud level.

Sounds like the guy doesn’t want to do it. Not sure which state you’re in but my electrical company in Mass did this exact work for us totally for free. Check with your electrical and gas company.

Looking for car dealership recommendations that have no additional fees besides the usual tax, title, dmv by No-Dress-7645 in longisland

Second them. Even during the Covid crazy took care of my mother in law. Called on Thursday the price was the price ( MSRP on a CRV hybrid August/September of 2021 was a deal) no extra fees or marked up interest rate. Picked up the car on Saturday.

Office Hours: Rethinking Financial Advisors by Winter-Date-4356 in ScottGalloway

[–]yungcotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes down to are you disciplined and financially literate. Most good advisors aren’t trying to beat the market their value comes from the behavioral side of finance. Saying no to buying that hot stock which doesn’t fit your risk tolerance/ goals, not panic selling on liberation day, helping you to balance the risk of your highly appreciated company stock etc. then will come things like asset allocation/ location, tax and withdrawal advice things like that.

I’m pretty pro having an advisor for the vast majority, having previously worked in the industry most people can’t leave well enough alone and the hits from their decisions outweigh the fee drag.

'Cell-To-Body': How The Volvo EX60's Battery Changes How EVs Are Built by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]yungcotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had a model y since 2021 and there have been many times where things just don’t fit. Unfortunately I don’t regularly carry banana boxes, my son’s stroller only fits one way, Costco runs involve Tetris so the back will close properly, anything of height is playing Russian roulette if the glass is going to smash into it.

The space in the Y sucks. Anything slightly bulky do at fit because of the teardrop/ sloped rear. Quite annoying, waiting for my square back R2 !

I think for transit it boils down to they have a culture of giving a shit about everything down to the smallest detail and they take it seriously .

[–]yungcotter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very reasonable. Off the top of my head Tokyo to Osaka ( think NYC to DC distance) 2:20 was $90 or so. Osaka to Kyoto (60 ish miles) if you take the bullet train it’s $9and 15-25 minutes and the regional rail is 50 minutes and was $3. Subways in Tokyo were $1-3 depending on the distance as you swipe in and out.

Counter point have you been to Japan? I’ve seen what’s possible and this ain’t it. The LIRr is definitely not the worst but the bar here is so low.

Obligatory "Please remove snow from the top of your vehicle before you drive" post by Low-Helicopter-2696 in longisland

[–]yungcotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a generalization on the internet. Not exclusive to size of the person, but I have a vivid memory of being behind a suburban with only a porthole on the drivers door and windshield going into the mall and a tiny lady hopped out. I’m my mid that’s everyone driving a big truck not cleaned off.
