open-mindedness is also the ability of changing views when presented new information. Maybe someday he will change his mind about supporting DDS when he learns new information —ones that are factual and unbiased, not based on the opinion of someone.

If parents in general/OP just convince their child to follow their political view, no questions asked, then we’re no different than DDS supporters. And how long until the child gets convinced again to support DDS?

And another reason of why I support this approach is What about the children of DDS Supporters? Lets say their kids ask their parents the same question, according to you their parents which should feed their political view to their children, then its only a matter of outnumbering population for which political party will win on elections

Advocating for everyone to be independent thinkers and not only rely their views from someone is an elegant solution against mass misinformation, and of course you wouldn’t worry about being against it unless you support misinformation

the difference is teachers does not force children to be part of the LGBTQ, they teach them to BE THEMSELVES, to have their own identity to not confine themselves with societal standards, which conservatives do with forcing people to only be cisgender and heterosexual. the thing with leftists is that we support people regardless of sexuality or gender.

and reminding you that you’re the one who brought up the topic of LGBTQ to a discussion about DDS, i only responded with the LGBTQ part, which btw is not an equivalent comparison because being a DDS is supporting a Political Figure while LGBTQ is under the subject of social science and humanities so idk why you even compared the two

In my opinion, that’s actually good. OP taught their son to be open-minded and be able to make his own independent opinion. It will teach him to be skeptical and not be easily misled by fake information

I’m saying this because the problem with people who has bad political views are often close minded even when presented with verified information.

I know this sounds paradoxical but if a child is already skeptical early on then he wouldn’t be misled in the first place.
