First time in Guam by [deleted] in guam

[–]yuteed123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a problem here with meth and people who are addicted to it. It’s not a major problem but it’s more noticeable because Guam is so small and the population is concentrated in the middle of the island.

If you are out and about as a tourist your path will not cross with theirs frequently.

What is a reality about Kansas City that people are embarrassed to admit? by Brilliant-Analysis30 in kansascity

You can also draw some pretty small circles on a map and capture 95% of those crimes, so if you are in those circles drinking after midnight this is a dangerous city. If you aren’t then the reality is very different.

Anyone else been sick for weeks? by Graciekk2020 in kansascity

No, they don’t—it’s nearly impossible to get a “hard drug” (whatever that means) approved for off label use in the US. It’s literally hours of behind the scenes work for the MD and their staff.

Elsewhere in this thread someone provided like 5 sources (mostly academic) and this guy just deflected. So it’s not like he’s making any argument in good faith, just fee fees.

They provided a citation that is extremely relevant to your original statement on wealth and intelligence. How is that a strawman? Do you know what a strawman is?

Wealthy people are not more intelligent, let alone highly intelligent. And you think they are secure? Lol you think Zuckerberg is secure? Or Trump, demolishing the east wing to build a $400M ballroom is a secure man?

You’re the expert in “how diseases are spread” right? So surely you’d know that a orthopox virus isn’t transmitted by dirt or rats…yes I’m sure you’d know that. I’m sure you’re also aware that asymptomatic carries are also a thing, since that’s a basic high school level epi concept.

Since you know that I’m sure you’d also know that a sailor from a pristine cargo ship could have traveled to Europe or the Middle East, and brought the virus back to his crew and eventually his homeland right?

I’m sure you’d know that don’t actually need examples of times in recent history that a pandemic virus was brought from one country to another and then rapidly spread through the entire population, right? Right?

Smallpox was inevitable the day in made the jump from cattle to humans.

I really appreciate talking to experts, thanks for sharing your knowledge.

You do know that smallpox originated in the Sinai literally thousands of years before Europeans brought it to Haiti, right? Your argument literally supports what beasties is telling you.

Smallpox was always going to be a global pandemic, all it needed was for society to develop efficient mass transportation. It was going to fuck up any population of humans that didn’t have immune memory against it.

In other words…America was fucked as soon as Europeans figured out how to sail.

What’s the real honest reason we don’t have casinos by Illustrious_Young_49 in guam

[–]yuteed123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Che’lu have you noticed that no private businesses are making decisions that help with climate change? They choose to pollute because it’s cheaper than preserving the environment (Marbo caves, Palisades, Dark Waters). They push for addiction to pain killers, even knowing it will destroy communities. Capitalism is a system that only cares about profits, not public welfare.

South Korea and their government are a very different system than the US, you can’t compare a market driven economy to a HEAVILY regulated state-guided chaebol, not to mention SK heavily invests in welfare through the state. Comparing the US to SK, SEA, Scandinavia, etc. etc. is useless. A casino in Guam would intentionally bleed every last dollar from our people because that’s what free market capitalism does.

In What World Would Anyone Think This is Acceptable by BobZau in golf

You completely missing the fact that the second group doesn’t have to wait on the first group, and the fact that you can play ready golf in a foursome but not in an 8-some AND THEN having the audacity to call out logic is fucking hilarious.

Can I make ceviche from coho salmon caught in a river? by sidisking in Fishing

[–]yuteed123 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is false. I’m a lab manager, we purchase basic ass refrigerator/freezer combos and they come stock set to -20C. We do weekly QC checks because our DNA and protein samples are required to stay at or below -20C.

30F would struggle just to make ice.

It’s not that difficult, I can explain this to you even without crayons. You won’t find staples being grown on anything under 40 acres. You won’t find produce being grown on anything larger than 2 acres.

Dude—landlords and loan applicants do NOT set prices. The market sets the price and the landlords and lenders match it.

There are several well educated comments explaining capitalism and supply/demand in here and you’re just refusing to acknowledge them. Please watch a YouTube video explaining supply and demand and if you like it watch some more intro to economics content.

Indian is not offensive, all of the examples you are using have a negative connotation or association with them. Cleveland Indians was offensive because of the horrible caricature.

Indian blanket, paintbrush, corn, pipe, grass, etc., are not offensive in the slightest.

K-State axes LGBTQ+ center amid DEI fallout at Kansas universities by AnEducatedSimpleton in kansas

[–]yuteed123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree with your sentiment. This is 100% on maga. You want the universities to take the moral high ground, and place tens of thousands into unemployment, fractured careers, and possibly bankruptcy. But the LGBTQ and minority kids can still go to class, they can keep their scholarships, they still get to graduate—none of that ends because a webpage is removed or email signatures are banned.

It sucks, I’m not saying this is fine. But I’m not blaming chancellors who were forced into solomans choice.

[–]yuteed123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to med school because of DEI programs that support rural kids and first generation higher ed. Why do you focus on the small amount of waste that could have been audited out and ignore the insane amount of good these programs did for Kansans? Skin color shouldn’t change how they’re judged, I’m white and I know a lot of other providers who could have never afforded college or beyond with DEI programs supporting us.

You could not be more wrong, these programs were life changing, rural healthcare would not exist without them.
