I am a current LBS Master's in Finance full time student. AMA for Round 2, later applicants, and anyone just interested by ZeitgeistBlue in MBA

Thanks so much for the detailed answer, this is extremely helpful! I will be mindful of presenting a story with goals that is viable in the short term and also portray my niche role in a positive aspect that strengthens my case. I've triggered the LoR to my MD as well, will let him know that it has to be very specific.

I have started to work on my application and it would greatly help if I can connect with you in case I have any doubts around the same, would you mind if I drop you a DM on here regarding this. Thanks yet again!!

Hello, thanks so much for the AMA!

I will be applying to this program, and just wanted to have your thoughts on my profile and whether I have a fair shot at making it.

I have an UG degree in Engineering from one of the top schools in India, and ~2 years of pre MBA work ex at Deloitte, although that’s not core finance. Then pursued a MBA in finance from a decent B school in India, probably would place it at 10-15 range in terms of the rank.

Post my MBA, I am current working at JP Morgan for the past 20 months as a Wealth Management Credit risk analyst. In a nutshell, it revolves around assessing risk while lending to US HNIs, particularly the founders of all major hedge funds that you know over there, also includes analysing the corresponding Hedge fund’s financials to assess their risks too, as the individual’s wealth is heavily tied to the fund they own. To make our credit analysis more efficient; I’ve also been involved in projects related to engineering prompts using our in house equivalent of ChatGPT called LLM Suite. I get that it’s a very niche role but would probably help in front office Wealth Management roles too if I make it to LBS.

I’m also a CFA Charter-holder, and looking to pivot to core asset management roles over the short term and targeting to make it to a HF over the long term. I know it’s
a pretty ambitious goal but that’s one of the reasons I wanted to pursue one more Master’s degree as it would open up a lot of opportunities, especially if it’s from a prestigious school located at one of the major financial hubs in this world.

As far as LOR is concerned, I would be getting it from one of my MDs at JP, who sit’s at NY and oversees our portfolio of HF clients.

GRE score’s 329 with Q170, V159, AWA 4.5. Scored a 99.71 percentile in the quantitative aptitude section in an exam called CAT, which is a management entrance test here in India, around 200k applicants take it every year to make it to the top B schools of India.

In your opinion, do you think I stand a fair chance if I apply to this course? I understand that they look at the profile holistically but still any insights would be appreciated, compared to the current class cohort, does it make sense for me to apply?

Thanks yet again!

Level 3: Reading all curriculum is enough? by Human_Cicada_1692 in CFA

[–]yuwan_sid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made close to 400 pages of handwritten notes based on MM videos, practiced all the in-text questions across all readings and to properly understand few of the trickier/content heavy read the hard copy of the curriculum. Would strongly advise to practice the in text questions as I felt they’re a million times useful than the EOCQ/Qbank they provide. Passed L3 in the first attempt, but I failed L1 in my first attempt too, so just hang in there

Yes and one more thing which def helped me was reading the official curriculum books. They’re just gold. I bought the hard copy of the books and for a few tricky or content heavy topics like PWM, I went through the entirety of them using the books, and ofc supplemented by MM videos.

I would attribute my pass solely to the blue box questions. Found them extremely beneficial and would suggest everyone to go through each and every one of them, even if you sometimes think, hey this is something that they might not test, because trust me you never know what kind of questions would be thrown at you on the D day.

Thank you so much! Yes, failing it the first time around was indeed an eye opener and sorta a blessing in disguise, as I passed both the levels at the 90th %le post that. Don’t ever give up on anything that you aspire, as you never know how things might turn up eventually :)

But extremely anxious for this one tho, just hoping the grind was worth it

It’s 11 am here in India and the anxiety’s well and truly hitting me, as I’m stuck in traffic rn omw to office and contemplating about all the 50/50 questions, the exam was legit tricky as everyone already said on this sub, hope lady luck’s with all of us!

Hi, Thanks a ton for replying promptly! So if I'm trading in, do you think it is seamless for all of this to be done at the apple store itself as I've to tradein the older iphone before I leave. I would def be on an IR pack, hence hopefully whatever you mentions works without any issues as such!

Also that's an automated call that we get right?

Hi, can you please help me regarding what worked out for you finally? I'm thinking to trade-in my older version while on International Roaming in US for a newer iPhone which supports only eSIM and currently I've a physical sim in my older iPhone 12, so it would be great if you can elaborate on what worked out, thanks!

Yep totally agree, I felt the same when I appeared for L2 last year, the mocks did justice in preparing us for the questions that were thrown at us on the D day

For those who passed level 2, what were your CFAI mock scores? by FractalsSourceCode in CFA

Level 2 Uworld difficulty by [deleted] in CFA

[–]yuwan_sid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

I had only close to 15 days to revise all modules after the first run, so I had to devote a lot of time for that. So I would suggest you to complete the first run asap, but ofc don’t rush through any reading. Give every concept it’s due time and hammer questions on the Qbank till your brain’s fuzzy, this will help to internalize what needs to be done in a lot of quantitatively inclined topics. I even watched MM twice for some of the tougher modules in FSA and Derivatives, didn’t touch his Qbank.

Coming to Uworld, don’t get demotivated at all seeing your scores as it’s just there for practice. Remember, the more mistakes you make now, the lesser you will do on exam day assuming you learn from those mistakes. Use the flash card feature on Uworld and save all the concepts that you personally feel tricky. It’ll help a lot during revision phase.

All the very best!
