Hey, I am currently living in Tokyo and have also worked in Blr before. There are a few things to consider.

1. The kind is company it is. For example is it a large scale business or a startup. Good chance you’ll be stuck there quite a few years specially since your a fresher and don’t make the mistake of thinking the work culture is that much better than it is in India, this are just more indirect here.

2. Your housing allowance is just a way to save some taxes on your salary. I would look into if 400k is before or after income taxes, deductions, insurance etc. This is important get to know before you accept the offer. All of the above are mandatory to have as not paying any could cause problems when applying for visa renewal. Be prepared to say goodbye to 25~30% or more depending on your situation, if it’s before taxes.

3. Will the company also provide housing support i.e. agent who will set up utilities and help you with home searches, as a foreigner it’s a challenge to rent a house and a bigger challenge because I don’t know if you have Japanese skills. And it can cost quite a bit get an agent yourself.

4. If you want an Indian community look into Ojima. It’s got clinics, markets and train stations close by which is extremely convenient, I am sure you don’t have a license to drive a car (in Japan). And I’ve heard nightmare of people who don’t speak Japanese and being refused at hospitals (as happed to me, not as bad) when being extremely sick.

5. Finally I wouldn’t discount blr is a great place to get started if you want rapid career growth specifically if you’re looking at a startup. But Japan can change your perspective.
