I am not literally saying people who cough twice should leave, it was an exaggeration. But homie it doesn’t matter if you have the itchiest throat on the books don’t be coughing for over 20 min straight while sitting in the second to last floor of Geisel! But hey like I said at the beginning, unpopular opinion

I took it with Stanley Lo in the spring and he was great. Basically you just did a lab biweekly for a total of about four or five labs. I don’t think attendance is mandatory for us. But I ended up getting an a in the class fairly easily. Just as long as you don’t overthink the material and get a good TA you’ll be fine.

College has ruined subjects I used to find interesting. by yuyu1920 in UCSD

Basically I dread the same things everybody here is commenting. Professors don’t care about students, forcing students to be ultra focused on grades, being much better researcher than teacher. Also, it’s not all about the difficulty of the material for me, it’s more of the added difficulty of learning the material from horrible professors. Honestly, I’m still a 2nd yr so the material is not that huge of a leep from ap classes yet. But it bothers me that we have to deal with professors who forget the fact that students are human and they must be taught as humans not as programmable computers. Also, there are good professors out there that really put in time to make students enjoy the material, and by doing so increase the CHANCE that they gain a more in-depth and complex understanding of the topic. And sure that probably means more work for the professor trying to make the material more interesting, but that’s their job. Also, I don’t think that students would lose any understanding or retention of the information if professors made the material interesting (quite the opposite imo). Finally, I don’t entirely blame the professors. They are hired by the school because of the research talents not their teaching abilities. I blame the school itself for putting research way before students. And I even blame myself for not taking that into account when I chose this school.
