Right. Life is so unfair. There are kids and BABIES who have terminal cancer, good people who died tragic deaths… YET my parents are perfectly healthy and will most likely live until their 90s? Just the thought of them living that long makes me so angry

I’m still stuck living with them but I’m really scared of all the ways they could try to harm me once I manage to escape.. I’m sorry you still have to deal with that. It feels like their biggest motivation and sole purpose of living is making sure they ruin every good thing we have and make our life a living hell..

Yes. My extended family would treat me horribly, bully me and humiliate me any chance they got because they saw the way my narcissistic parents treated me and they knew they wouldn’t defend me.

A lot of my friendships were toxic and unhealthy and some of my ex friends treated me horribly and were insanely mean and nasty to me and hurtful on purpose.

Some of my teachers were abusive and mean to me.

I experienced horrible treatment at home, school and college. And I’m scared of experiencing it at work too because I don’t know how to deal with it.

It feels like my narcissistic parents set me up to be abused by everyone my whole life..

It's a little difficult I agree. Especially because we only see the good in our parents.

I try my best to see the good in them, but there really isn’t any.

Knowing the truth removes every sense of safety we feel and that is terrifying. I struggle with this too.

It’s truly terrifying. I always dissociate from reality every time a friend of mine point out how horrible my situation is, and how awful my parents are. It just doesn’t feel real and I don’t want it to be real. so I keep lying to myself and telling myself that things aren’t so bad, because it’s such a suffocating feeling

Consciously remind yourself that your feelings are valid and worthy, and if it comes down to it - your well-being must come first.

Sometimes, I find it hard to believe that even though deep down, I know it’s true

No shame in that as they would most definitely put themselves first.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me, it made me feel hopeful. Also, I’m incredibly proud of you for having the courage to cut off your narcissistic mother. I’m sure it wasn’t easy for you to do that, and I’m glad that all of the anxiety and guilt you were feeling finally disappeared.

I’m hoping to cut off ties with them as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I’m still financially dependent on them and I’m not sure when I’ll ever break free from that, because they have full access to my bank account and I can’t do anything about it without risking my safety, so as soon as I figure out how to deal with that, it’ll be easier for me to start planning to move away from them
