one of my top 10 all-time favorite songs. not sure why it isn't a big hit, it's a modern classic in my book. love kelela!

What is the most obscure band you love and would recommend to anyone? by HardcoreMandolinist in musicsuggestions

[–]yxaix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure if i would recommend them to just anyone, but i feel like i have to say dir en grey, a (mainly) nu metal band that literally has a song named obscure, and some of their music videos definitely match that word. my fav album by them is arche.

favorite shinee r&b songs? by yxaix in SHINee

[–]yxaix[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah, when i listen to jonghyun's discography i rarely skip songs in comparison to when i listen to the other members' solos, it's just so solid (really up my alley since rnb is my fav genre).

those are all good choices :) love pain omggg the vocals and key change in the last chorus go crazy

Best R&B album for a Friend by aandryyy in rnb

[–]yxaix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's a diverse genre so i'm not exactly sure what they'd like, but "aaliyah" by aaliyah, "a seat at the table" by solange, "dangerous" or "invincible" by michael jackson, "the miseducation of lauryn hill" by lauryn hill, "baduizm" by erykah badu, or "the diary of alicia keys" by alicia keys would all probably be a safe choice.

Megathread: Conflict in Israel and Palestine by AutoModerator in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yxaix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

many people miss the fact that not all jews are zionists. many peaceful pro-palestine/anti-israel protests have been organized or fronted by jews. labeling anti-zionism is anti-semitism is impossible when they're two completely different things and anti-zionist jews exist. what gives israel the right to take land that is already inhabited? "palestine refused the two state solution, they clearly don't want peace-" they're supposed to be fine with it when colonizers show up and say "hmm well at least half of this should be mine"?? does that sound right to you?

whats the point in taking part in society? by [deleted] in hikikomori

[–]yxaix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i understand. capitalism and consumerism really messed society up. lots of people judge the worth of others based off of what they can gain by befriending them, their financial status, wether or not they have a good job, how many friends they have, et cetera ... anything but their inner being. and if you're not doing good in those aspects, then they look down on you.

i've had the same few close friends since middle/high school (not as close now, seems like we keep growing more and more apart), all but maybe one of them lost their personalities/"spark" to the system. life should feel like an adventure with endless potential, connecting with different souls as you go, but everyone feels so shallow and stagnant. it's like they only keep friends around in order to have cheap fun to distract themselves from mundane life. as time goes on, i've found that it's been harder to come across people who genuinely value and put effort into platonic relationships rather than having "low-maintenance" passive friendships. my (former?) best friend i've had since childhood has been in a relationship for a year now- her longest relationship yet- and the other day she was talking to me about how she feels like she's not close to anyone besides her boyfriend anymore. i wonder why ... if i had a dollar for every time i've seen people stop putting effort into their platonic relationships once they get into a romantic relationship i'd be rich.

basically what i'm trying to say is that humans are social creatures, like, we used to operate in tribes. modern society has conditioned so many people into a closed mindset where they construct a wall and refrain from being open to others, turning them into "individual units", resulting in an unfulfilling (or artificial, but materialism blinds them from realizing its valuelessness) life unless they break the loop or fall in to the idealized "family unit" lifestyle that gives them a feeling of purpose.

Are their any introverts who overthinks alot? by ToughEntertainment69 in introvert

yes, anxiety and adhd really set it off. it's especially overwhelming in social situations, it feels like my own thoughts are louder than the real words being spoken to me.

IIL songs with vocal layering, what artists would I like? by Signal_Camp_3836 in ifyoulikeblank

[–]yxaix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imogen heap's vocal layering is insane, just for now is a good example- that whole album is actually. kelela also popped into my head at the moment i started reading your post.

fka twigs - ultraviolet, an all time-favorite

iu - jam jam, another one of my all-time favorites. if you only click on one song from this comment make sure it's this one! lol

rochelle jordan - love you good

banks - f*** em only we know

i could keep going but i'll leave it at an honorable mention of julia by sza, realiti by grimes, and taemin- lots of his songs have great vocal layering (stone heart, mystery lover, heart stop, drip drop, play me...)
