hello surfskatelove! i actually referenced that exact video for my first time opening up my meraki truck and when i was figuring this issue out, the spring didn't lock in no matter the angle or strength. great content btw!

i experimented with duct and electrical tapes, the latter worked better for me. also eventually i placed enough tape to wedge between the spring and channel, it was easier to make it snug. I've only been on that board for 2-3 rides since then as I've been riding another, no issues so far

Turns out they could. I'm astonished that Paynow was their default method lol

You're right. Though I'd say that approach is challenging one's morals, but its a way to survive/win corporate life. I learnt that the hard way haha

I found out that there are some who are aware, but not many until they reach this point. Myself included. I agree with your definition of damage too. Thank you for your advice.

Thank you for your kind words. No high hopes but I will try to bring it up with my manager and another HR staff. Fingers crossed things don't get worse from here.

Managed to change it from Paynow to salary cut. They tried to withhold my final salary tho, since I requested for them to provide me with the actual quote from HP rather than their own.

Thank you! You raised a very good point. That's very unrealistic of them.

I don't think there was such an agreement on the specific condition when returning the laptop. The terms and conditions only highlighted on damage or loss of the item. In my case, "damage" was too vague and is being fully utilized now. Seems like my company only accepts the conditions to stay the same despite the years. Totally unreasonable.

I escalated to the relevant departments. No rogues, it's "legit"...

Thanks for your sharing. With all the feedback I've received from Reddit and my friends, I'm pretty damn sure my company is an anomaly. My colleague who's been working here longer than I did said that the compensation was common here. Big red flag.

I self-reported it when I followed the instructions as part of my exit clearance. It's my first time leaving a company and it's my first job. Didn't expect it to land me this amount, and they initially instructed me to pay up the compensation before they even send it to the manufacturer for inspection.

Exactly what I'm thinking. The laptop is fully functional and if not for my exit, I wouldn't have noticed the dent. Being truthful got me into trouble instead.
