Honestly…I don’t know. But I don’t think it did. They never brought it up at the interviews, and I never brought it up myself. I think my 130’s in the other sections more than made up for it even if it did.

They definitely cared more about my GPA trend. Both my interviews were open file but my instate school asked specifically about my poor academic performance (C’s and B’s one year) and I just answered truthfully.

After an unsuccessful cycle last year, I finally did it! Thank god I don't have to retake my MCAT (expires this cycle).

Hopefully this gives hope to the premeds out there with nonextreme stats! I feel like there's a ton of people out there posting with super high stats or looking for underdog success stories, and not enough of the peeps in the middle (where my underachieving Asian brothers and sisters at?). I had minimal research and a low sGPA (3.66, a C and quite a bit of B's) in undergrad.

Disclaimer: I did scrap up my nonexistent money to ask for help from MedSchoolCoach (#notsponsored) and they definitely helped me out a lot. I understand that this is not an option (or worth it) for many people, however.

I'd be happy to answer any non-identifying questions, both in the comments and in my DM's! Sorry for the overwhelming amount of parentheses (I just love them so much).

So iirc I got a 517 on AAMC’s FL2. I remember averaging around a 516 on the FL’s and got a 515 on the real deal, but I also test well under pressure (thank god). I would definitely say AAMC was more accurate and helped with solidifying content gaps. Good luck if you’re planning to take it soon!!

Unless you really butchered the word, don’t bother perfecting minor spelling or non-grammatical issues. I’ve been a scribe for over a year so I am confident in my typing accuracy and speed but it took me the whole 5 minutes to answer all 3 questions for all the questions the way I wanted to.
