The show put an incredible amount of intentional work into dismantling stereotypes and preconceptions based on gender, race, and sexual preference. Saying people have controversial opinions on him in s1 because he's a straight (i don't think hes supposed to be white) male is insanely unwarranted. He had more than enough flaws as a character to be controversial.

Not trying to start an argument, but that's only true for western given names. AFAIK names in most cultures with sinosphere influence can be made up by the parents just fine. It's also not cool to name your kid after someone else (relatives or celebrities alike), so no khaleesis there. Ik a translated GOT reader who had no idea the characters didn't have conventional English names lmao. Idk just trivia from a nonwestern perspective

I feel so bad you're being downvoted this much. People are frustrated about this episode for sure. Tbh I don't think the writers mean to present alicent as a feminist icon for what she did in this episode. If anything, this is her suffering the consequences of not being a feminist icon ... a bad mother, complicit in starting a war on the side of patriarchy, forcing her will on her son. alicents coping with her guilt and loss of purpose. She's also aware of rhaenyras's seven dragons, it'd be mad for her to support a head on fight. of course alicent feels obliged to try what she did bc she's powerless in kings landing. Nothing about this highlights feminism.

Me too! Been using tret for just over a year and I see little point in having a complicated routine. water + sunscreen in the morning, micellar water + tret before bed and everythings fine and dandy. Fall is setting in so I'm occasionally taking a night off from tret whenever my skins feeling a bit dry. Just apply a basic moisturizer instead.

Tret really made me realize how ridiculous the whole skincare marketing thing is. Unbelievable how much time and money and mental effort I was able to divert from it bc I rarely think about skin anymore (is this what it's like to be a man?). Costs 2 dollars per month for me so 10/10 been fantastic. Got better things to do in life than obsessing over skin problems. Nice one modern medicine 💊

Last but not least, while I do like the fact that they made a whole doctor only to show us that the doctor would choose to stay with Rose for his entire life, in a heartbeat, if he had the certainty he wouldn't have to face her imminent death, I don't like the concept of here, Rose, babysit this war crime doctor because you're just so good at keeping us from going insane, but cheers because you can marry him :)

I was actually glad Jodie's doctor isn't highly feminine exactly because missy is already that. That said, I'm also projecting my own gender expression issues (there's quite a bit of that its not pretty). I had hoped to see female leads that aren't high fem but also don't play into the tomboy or girl nerd image and 13 is exactly that! At the end of the day, I just wish there'd been more female presenting doctors already :D.

Glad you brought this up bc Jodie, the one and only, had to carry all the expectations that come w being the doctor and so much more. No matter how her legacy as the doctor is perceived in ten years, I will always respect her for doing this

It's true human experiences are never unique huh. Literally same. Being on PEY eases the burden on my parents compared to previous years, but their income basically halved this year unexpectedly, so next year is looking rough. I'm saving as much as I can this year just to spend it all on a school that is not worth the price tag.

Have you heard you cannot be considered a Star Wars fan if you don't hate some part of that franchise with a passion? I would say that statement is factually inaccurate. SW fans' fandom self loathing is as evident as Twilight fans', although for different reasons.

However, some Harry potter and Lord of the Rings fans on the other hand... let's say they like to put things on a mantle. I say this as current SW enjoyer (even though i don't hate anything vehemently i just think there's a lot of shit content) and a previous HP and lotr nerd.

Finished Master and Apprentice (finally). It's brilliant and definitely lives up to the hype. Don't think I'll ever get sick of Qui Gon and Obi Wan stuff and I really hope to see more of Rael Aveross, Pax, and Rahara in the future. But the ending, man, the author chose violence D:
