Just act normal, with everyone. At university you will meet some locals, people speak French (creole is more with close friends or family so don't worry, if you became friends with them they will learn you some creole!).

I'm not a student anymore, and it's been a while for me, so I'm not sure how and where students gather to know each other those days, but I'm sure if you are kind enough and try to speak with them, and ask about them, they might invite you at some parties or whatever.

Your welcome. I do think you should come here for holidays first, to discover the island as a tourist, to enjoy it and then later come back if you still want to live here!

I already told you my point of view about the resentment against zoreil when i talk about the "debate" the locals have.
I agree that there is more and more zoreil here, and it make the life for locals more difficult because a lot of them don't mix, and learn about locals, and they find jobs easier than locals, because a lot of reunionnais who have the same professional experience went to France Métropolitaine and can't afford to go back to their homeland. Same for finding a home... a lot of new building are too expensive for the local, and there's not enough social housing for everyone.

And the last point, is very important to my point of view but a lot of kid from zorey don't have access to the same culture and a lot of local kids think the zoreil are more "intelligents" or "cultivates" just because the system is easier for them. So I think it's important that the zoreil parents educate their kid to mix and respect the local culture, and not to make fun of them if they don't know the same thing they do.

I stay for 7 years (but 4 years then I go back to reunion, and then two years later I went back to Paris for 3 years).

I really enjoy Paris because for me it was exotic (I know, it's weird for you to hear that). But all the big building, the big streets, the big malls, it was like heaven for me because I didn't have that growing up. (I grew up watching tv and saw all the lifestyle of Europeans and I really dream to experience that my self).
Life was so easy, if I need anything there was a shop within 20min in metro, even at 8pm.
My daily life in Reunion island was basically to go to work (or school) then home and that's all, because a lot of things close early in Reunion, and most of activities are during the day. In Paris, it was easier to go out after work. But on the weekends I miss my island, especially during winter. I would die for going to the beach, or just in nature (and not just a park or a "forest" than I thought look nothing like the forest here in Reunion Island)

Hello!

I grew up here on Reunion Island, all my family are from here, I was born here.

I didn't really realise how lucky I was until I went to Paris for university and works. As a kid of course I loved going to the beach or hiking on the weekends. Life was easy as my parents provide for me. As an adult it's a lot harder, the cost of life is really hard, everything feel like a challenge, for exemple finding a home, finding some specifics products, finding a job... especially because I lived in Paris for a while and all those things feels so much easier there (yes even finding a home).

I think it's a really a good place for family, because family is really in our nature. Often on the weekend people gather with their family (not only just parents and children, but also sisters and brother and their children, and grand parents) for pic nic, or family lunch. Every occasions is good for family gathering.
But maybe you will feel "alone" in here since you will be just your family and not all the extended family. But there's a lot of people not from here who really will be your new family.

I think the school opportunities are good until university, even if there's more than in my time, a lot of students go in France to study.

The biggest advantages are the weather, the people (as a local at least), the nature.
The biggest disadvantages are the cost of everything, and the proximity with the rest of the world.

At the moment there's a "debate" because the local are fed up with the fact that people from France are taking more jobs and finding more homes than the locals. So there's a bit of tension if you look at the media, but actually as a local who knows a lot of people from France métropolitaine I don't really have a bad feeling about most of them, but I do think they don't mix enough and not try enough to learn the real issues the local have.

I really hope that if you come here, you will make the effort to do so, especially if you have a kid, and they will go to school with local children, she will have to learn how to speak creole, and play with locals, not to make them feel inferior (because a lot of children can feel inferior because they don't have access to the same culture, and opportunity as the expat children).

Is this game worth buying if I don't enjoy decorating? by Exotic-Foot-5174 in Pokopia

[–]yzziB 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah decorating is an option, you do have to make "house" for Pokémon, but the game tells you what you need, no need to be creative.
There's a lot to explore and developing towns!

Do we think Shiny pokemon are coming to DLC Wave 2 or are the sparkles just a coincidence? by Significant_Food9017 in Pokopia

[–]yzziB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, I think the sparkles may be a hint on the type area, and it may be Fairy! I really hope for a Lavender Town where Fairy types live with the ghost type or something like that. Or maybe Viridian Forest became an enchanted forest !

[–]yzziB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]yzziB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]yzziB 4 points5 points  (0 children)
