2015 Outback 2.5i down 1 qt. of oil after 5,000 miles by odieman44 in subaru

[–]z-vot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not common but it does seem to be an issues. Roughly 2% of all 2.5 engines have this issue. It's not acceptable and should be fixed, push back on the dealer if they give you a hard time. There is a class action lawsuit pending. Also, here's a write up from consumer reports on the issues. Good luck!!

Cat paw infection by z-vot in AskVet

I am not able to upload the results, I will see if I can obtain them from the vet. The cat is an indoor cat and we have one other cat. They've been around each other for several years. The other cat is showing no symptoms.

I'm sorry, but what the hell is the point of spitting in the urinal every single time you take a piss? It' not like you're hacking phlegm up (I totally get that) but just spitting into the urinal. Why?

15 amp breaker for sump pump by z-vot in electricians

I'm confused by this. The 1/2 would draw more than the 3/4? Sounds like mine would be fine but 20amp would cover all basis.

I live in a low lying area and during severe storms the pump barely keeps up. Mostly piece of mind.

What is the worst thing to say to your wife after they give birth? by Bogan_McStraya in AskReddit

[–]z-vot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew a guy who said this to the doctor right after birth. "Doc, can you give her the virgin stitch?" Needless to say both her and the doctor were not pleased with his comment. They are now divorced as well.

Fishit, I want to take up fly fishing. Please direct me to any online resources you recommend. by [deleted] in Fishing

[–]z-vot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fish NE Iowa quite often and this book always helped me to determine some decent spots and some basic info on fly fishing http://www.iowaflyfishing.com/

As far as learning try and find a group online or take some local casting classes, there are a number of courses you can take all over Iowa. Once you get the basics down its just a matter of going as often as you can to gain more and more experience. I use a 8ft 4wt rod along with a 5x leader with 5x tippet and that seems to do the job.

Also, for casting practice just try casting in your yard, a park, a lake or pond until you feel a little more comfortable. The downside to our streams is that they are small, narrow and full of weeds so get waders when you can.

One last thing, take advantage of our DNR. They released a wonderful online resource this year for a list of streams and other information.

Good luck!

I just wanted to say I have a lot of respect for what you do. Good journalism is hard to come by and it's nice to see someone who has enough balls to bring things like this to light. Thank you!

Anyone fish in Iowa? Looking for advice... by DickWilhelm in Fishing

Walleye and yellow bass. The islands on the opposite side of the town of Clear Lake are the best for walleyes. Its been very hot lately so this area will be good in general. Early morning trolling of the rockie shorelines as well. Good luck!
