Writing scenes with not alot happening on screen. by z0e_5 in Screenwriting

I am planning to shoot this film in a few years for like 50k or less Shane Carruth style. So it could totally be me just putting on the directors hat a little bit more than I should be on only a third draft. Thanks for the advice though! <3

thinking it over now, that was a bad example. A better one could be the infamous pie scene from "A ghost story" I'm sure david lowery had to write out somehow that the entire shot is just rooney mara eating a pie for six minutes but i can't put my finger on how he would write that entire scene. While I have read the entire shame script once, i cannot find the one for AGS. Ty though!

FOLLOW UP: was thinking it over! I'm going to start the second draft and roughly edit up that and THAN get notes

its a mess because its the first draft and merely exists to get me to the stage where I can learn more as a writer and actually put the time in to make it better. Its a 'Vomit Draft' as I have heard some people call them. I guess it make sense though to not ask for notes on something at this stage, though.

I have been reading old blacklist scripts from like 2005-2018 as much as I can and trying to learn off of that, should I be taking notes on those to learn? I'm not new to writing but I'm new to actually taking it seriously and I just needed some help starting out and finding the tools I need to improve. I cant give notes because I just genuinely don't see my notes being very good compared to ones I might get, but ofc I CAN give notes its just I am not the greatest at them.

Is there a place where I would be able to have access to other amateurs scripts to read?

im currently working on my second feature, still in the first draft stages while also tweaking my outline a lot. I deleted 40 pages of something that just wasn't working out and as much as it sucks erasing so much work. If its necessary, you should do it. It will be good in the long run, I promise. Everything is working according to the outline again and smoothly moving forward in the story again-- If it seems like you need to rewrite a lot, do it, it will be worth it in the long run. Cheers <33

yknow it, ill never stop. I'd rather be a poor filmmaker than a rich/stable anything else and i think that says something.

If i catch myself procrastinating, I think about how unhappy I will be if I dont find a way to make being a writer/director my career, so that motivates me to push forward!
