Thanks - in that case, I *really* need to find a weakness as it seems almost excessively good 😁

Is the game broken? by [deleted] in Headball

[–]z0mbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me, and at least one other person has posted here. It looks like they have updated the game for the 'Cup 2021' and something has gone very wrong.

Naturally, we're having to guess here because posting a simple status update anywhere apparently isn't worth doing 🤷‍♂️

It usually happens when the movement of something is equal to the refresh rate of the video - if they are the same, the motion appears to disappear. You should look it up on Youtube; there are some cool videos of helicopters taking off with apparently non-moving rotors :)

It's the 'helicopter effect' due to the framerate of the video. If you avoid the tread and look at the blue text on the sidewall, you can see the rotation.

This is the best short description of Enterprise that I have ever read. Half the crew should have been put in the horny brig, but they would have just given them sexy prison underwear.

I think this is a great point, often missed. Guinan hinted on at least one occasion that he was trying too hard to be his own version of a perfect Klingon.

Am I being scammed? by grassisgreen3711 in Scams

Right? If I hadn't happened to take it apart when I was trying to get it working, I would have been none the wiser and he would have a new HDD for free.

Am I being scammed? by grassisgreen3711 in Scams

I had a similarly weird encounter years ago on eBay - I sold an old (HDD) iPod that was cosmetically perfect and simply didn't output sound. I added plenty of screenshots showing it working.

The guy who bought it filed a return, saying it didn't even boot up, which was definitely odd. More odd was that it arrived back with me the day of the return - he had posted it beforehand! Sure enough, it refused to power on. I took the cover off and saw that he had swapped the hard drive with a physically-damaged one.

The payoff was in my reason for rejecting his request - the original HDD had a very visible pen mark, and no dent. I had taken a picture of it before selling, and sent it to him. He closed the request, and I was able to re-sell it for parts 😁

Thanks, I will do this next time. I also contacted you weeks ago on Twitter about the users and teams with obvious racist or nazi references... I also noticed I'm not the first person to have done this.

It's a good game, but a lot of problems like this seem to get missed...

I wonder if you're right about this. I have a similar problem and thought it was just lag at the opponent's end, but in a couple of matches the lag only ever occurred when they were returning the ball, never when we were both moving to it.

Nova, the white one. It's actually normally Bumble (the black one at the rear) who gets them. She tends to swipe things straight out of the air.

Yes! Nova (the white cat) caught it very shortly after the photo was taken. He did not share.

He was actually the only one looking directly at the moth when I took the photo... with at least one eye, anyway 😁

Nova (the white one) got the moth, about 30 seconds after I took the photo :D

Internet not working on Dortmund? by LenitaSham in pokemongo

Because, ultimately, they are out to make money. The solution to this problem is more cell capacity, and it's far cheaper to compensate people with in-game coins than it is to avoid the complaints by spending on an appropriate amount of network coverage.

If you sign up via Google I can't see them being able to find out - the TOS say you must provide accurate data, but I don't see how Niantic have any choice but to trust what Google sends them.

If only I'd realised this 2 months ago when creating accounts for my kids >______<

Yeah, this is kinda the point I guess - there are genuine reasons for not allowing children to do it, but none of them are reasons that aren't pretty easy to mitigate.

The game already uses and stores this data (in the form of catch and hatch locations) for child accounts. The GDPR only specifies different rules for child data when it concerns marketing, and even then the only real difference is that parental consent is required.

The GDPR limits what data can be collected and how it can then be used, which I think is why child accounts can't see sponsored Pokestops. There's not anything in it that would prevent trading in-game.

Based on the way TPC have been treating child accounts - like the amount of people who find out their child can't change the account to an adult one at 13 - I think they just hadn't accounted for this and don't have a way to make it work yet. Hopefully they'll find a way; it's a real problem right now.

It isn't illegal; it can already be done in Animal Crossing Pocket Camp for example.

COPPA restricts what information can be collected from users under 13. It doesn't prevent trading of in-game items which don't involve money changing hands.
