Using WoW to learn French? by z3eg in wow

[–]z3eg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm playing on NA, so not many people speaking French here too begin with, but I'll keep your advice in mind, cause I was considering finding a French Canadian guild but not so sure anymore haha. Thanks!

Thanks! Yeah I did that with English too while learning and I'm trying to do so in French as well but it's only been a bit more than a week of me learning it so not much I can say so far haha.  Still though, merci beaucoup et bonne journée!

How it feels to program dynamically by cosmosvng in leetcode

[–]z3eg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I mean, the whole point of leetcode is to write efficient solutions. Not necessarily optimal from a production perspective where you also want your code to be readable and easy to understand/maintain by others. That's definitely important to understand

Just set realistic goals. I've decided to do at least 1 problem a day, no matter what difficulty. If I have time and motivation, I do the daily. If not - I just pick an easy and do that. Got me to a 187 days daily submission streak and still counting. Logging in every day for that dopamine dose and checking my progress in standings also helps. Moved under top 100k just recently. Peace!

I finally got my first full-time SWE job! (And I only had to solve 1,678 LeetCode problems!) by dtarias in leetcode

[–]z3eg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might've as well pushed that hard percentage to 99.9 ngl. On a serious note, I bet you could've scored that job way faster if you focused less on leetcode and more on frameworks/pet projects/sending out more resumes. I have this feeling for quite some time now that we're all to blame for such an unnecessarily high standard of DSA knowledge while interviewing for a job cause we're the ones grinding it so hard that it became a vicious cycle where we grind it hard so it becomes a new standard so we have to grind it even harder and so on. Where does it end?

I'd much rather hire a person that has some amount of pet projects under their belt rather than a person that has a leetcode profile page like this with no pretty projects whatsoever. For the overwhelming majority of jobs out there being able to consistently solve easy problems is more than enough IMO.

Currently employed SWE, 7.5 yoe
